Native to Canada, this conifer inhabits mountain slopes and bogs. It has grey-brown peeling bark, red flowers in clusters and acicular leaves. The fruit is a 4 cm-long, reddish-brown, hanging cone.

How to use this essential oil
- Stimulating action on the nervous system, such as morning fatigue; dilute 2 drops of black spruce essential oil with 2 drops of Scots pine essential oil in 5 drops of hazelnut vegetable oil. Massage the adrenal glands (above the kidneys) in the morning.
- Depression (adults); Inhale 1 to 2 drops of black spruce on a handkerchief as needed.
- Apathy, lack of reactivity (adults): 4 drops of black spruce + 1 drop of Spanish oregano + 2 drops of Rosemary 1.8, 2 drops of this mixture massaged into the back over the kidney area.
- Exercise preparation, sports (adults): 5 drops of Black Spruce + 1 drop of Clove + 1 drop of Peppermint, rubbed into legs, stomach and arms.
Precautions for use
- Not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
- Not recommended for pregnant or breast-feeding women (contains limonene, which may cause uterine contractions).
