Description of the Diu Mona Lisa Cu380 Nt IUD Copper
The IUD or IUD (intrauterine device) is a reliable and unconstrained method of contraception for women. When the baby plan comes true then it is time to withdraw it.
The copper IUD consists of a plastic holder with flexible side arms around which a copper wire is wound. Copper has two contraceptive actions: by virtue of its cytotoxic effect, it interferes with the migration of spermatozoa to the uterus, and causes changes in the uterine lining, making it unfit for nesting.
The Mona Lisa Cu380 Nt Copper IUD is an Intra Uterine Device (IUD) composed of:
- a polyethylene T-shaped body measuring approximately 32mm in width and 32mm in height.
- a copper wire wound around the vertical rod 0.40mm in diameter giving a diffusion surface of 380mm2
- a nylon monofilament attached to the rod, allowing control and removal of the device.
The device is made radiopaque by adding barium sulphate.
Mona Lisa is placed in an inserter with a measuring ring. The MONA LISA NT Cu380 device is suitable for uteri between 6.5 and 9 cm in length 48. The lateral branches of the Mona Lisa IUD are designed so that the device adheres to the uterus without deforming the uterine cavity or obstruct the tubes. It is recommended by the manufacturer to replace this device every 5 years
Advice for using the Mona Lisa copper IUD
The Mona Lisa Nt Cu 380 Copper Sterilet is put in place during a simple consultation, either by a general practitioner, or by a gynecologist or by a midwife.
Before insertion, it may be useful to perform a hysterometry (a graduated rod is inserted into the uterus to assess the shape, size and tenderness of the uterus). In principle, the insertion of an IUD is little or no pain.
Women who have never had a pregnancy can take pain medication 2 hours before the installation. The installation itself is very fast. It lasts less than a minute.
