When should Optive Lubricating Eye Drops be used for dry eyes?

Optive Lubricating Eye Drops are intended to lubricate and moisturize the surface of the eye when it feels uncomfortable. It can be used to temporarily relieve symptoms associated with dry eyes, such as a burning sensation, irritation, discomfort, or a feeling of something in the eye.

Dry eye can be caused by certain environmental factors, among other things. When the tear film no longer adequately protects the surface of the eye, unpleasant sensations may occur. This ophthalmic solution helps improve eye comfort through its lubricating and moisturizing action.

Its formula contains 0.5% sodium carboxymethylcellulose and 0.9% glycerin. It helps maintain proper hydration of the eye’s surface while helping to restore the eye’s natural osmotic balance.

Optive can be used by contact lens wearers, as it is compatible with all types of contact lenses. It can therefore provide occasional relief during periods when the eyes become dry or uncomfortable, including for contact lens wearers.

After instillation, the solution helps restore a feeling of comfort and temporarily alleviate symptoms associated with dry eyes. In cases of persistent discomfort, pain, prolonged redness, or changes in vision, medical or ophthalmological advice is still necessary.

For another solution designed to help with dry eyes, you can also try Boiron Idryline Eye Drops for Dry Eyes.

Our Expert Advice on Optive Lubricating Eye Drops for Dry Eyes

When your eyes become dry or irritated, a few simple steps can complement the use of lubricating eye drops. In particular, remember to blink regularly when working for long periods in front of a screen, take breaks to rest your eyes, and avoid, as much as possible, very dry, smoky, or heavily air-conditioned environments. For contact lens wearers, unusual or persistent discomfort should also be monitored. If dry eyes are accompanied by severe pain, persistent redness, or decreased vision—or if symptoms worsen despite using the eye drops—we recommend that you consult a doctor or an ophthalmologist.
