Comptoir Aroma Organic Clove Essential Oilis a specific oil with cleansing properties fromComptoir Aroma'sextensive range of100% pure, natural organic essential oils.

What is Le Comptoir Aroma Organic Clove Essential Oil 10ml used for?

Clove is a 20-meter-high tree native to Indonesia, now partly cultivated in Madagascar. The cloves are all the flower stalks and pedicels.

Comptoir Aroma'sOrganic Clove Essential Oil, rich in eugenol, is recognized for its local anesthetic and analgesic action. Compared to lidocaine, eugenol shows superior efficacy as a local anesthetic, particularly in the treatment of dental pain. It specifically blocks the nerve fiber involved in pain, which explains its frequent use in dentistry to relieve pain in the dental pulp.

This essential oil also possesses broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties, being effective against bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Eugenol's antibacterial effect causes alterations in bacterial structure and membrane permeability. It is also recognized for its antifungal properties, particularly against species of the Candida spp genus and various dermatophytes, thanks to the presence of eugenol.

The eugenol and β-caryophyllene contained in Clove essential oil have anti-inflammatory properties, inhibiting various enzymes and molecules involved in the inflammatory process. These include inhibition of cyclo-oxygenase and prostaglandins, as well as NF-kappaB. These components make Clove oil comparable to non-steroidal anti-inflammatories.

Although the exact mechanisms are not yet fully established, eugenol is thought to be uterotonic and spasmolytic, helping both to stimulate uterine contractions and to relax the cervix. It is traditionally used to facilitate childbirth, under medical supervision.

Clove essential oil is a powerful acaricide, effective against parasites such as mites, as well as being an effective repellent against lice and certain intestinal worms.

Clove oil is also calming, antispasmodic, carminative, sedative, digestive and hypertensive. It has anti-platelet aggregation, neurotonic, energizing, digestive and intestinal stimulant effects, as well as disinfectant and purifying properties. It also protects against organ damage induced by carcinogenic compounds, and is recognized for its anti-allergic and antioxidant efficacy.
