What is Docteur Valnet Bergamot Organic Essential Oil used for?
Bergamot (Rutaceae family) is closely related to the bitter orange tree, but its exact origins are uncertain. In the first half of the 17th century, its cultivation spread to Calabria in southern Italy.
Docteur Valnetbergamot essential oil has calming, central nervous system sedative, anxiolytic and antidepressant properties. It is neuroprotective and melatoninergic. It is antibacterial, anti-mycoplasma, analgesic and antispasmodic.Dr Valnet bergamot essential oil, bergapten-free, is 100% pure and natural, chemotyped and organically grown. Bergamotorganic essential oil is carminative, digestive, laxative, anti-inflammatory and antifungal.
Bergamot essential oil is rich in linalool, a monoterpene alcohol that has anxiolytic effects when inhaled. It increases the concentration of neurotransmitter amino acids in the hippocampus, helping to regulate sleep-wake alternation. When inhaled, it induces a sedative effect on the central nervous system, reduces blood cortisol and exerts an anti-stress and anti-depressive action. Bergamot balances the autonomic nervous system and increases neurotransmitter levels, exerting a neuroprotective and analgesic action, notably to prevent glutamate accumulation.
Limonene, also present in bergamot essential oil, plays a role in hepatic detoxification, notably by stimulating cytochromes P450 and phase II enzymes such as glutathione-S-transferase, essential for the elimination of toxins. Limonene and linalool, as well as geranyl and linalyl acetates , give bergamot oil antinauseant, antispasmodic and gastroprotective properties. These components support gastric motility and help regulate acidity in cases of gastro-oesophageal reflux. Bergamot oil acts as a neurotropic spasmolytic with an anticholinergic effect, reducing muscle spasms in various parts of the body, including the gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract.
This essential oil is involved in lipid regulation, reducing cholesterol levels and stimulating the secretion and evacuation of bile. It has significant antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral activity, and is also effective as anatmospheric antiseptic by diffusion. This essential oil moderates the inflammatory response by inhibiting gamma interferon and IL-4 production, making it useful in the treatment of asthma and other inflammatory conditions.
It is being explored for its potential in cancer chemoprevention and chemotherapy, due to its ability to induce phase I and phase II enzymes involved in the detoxification of carcinogens and inhibiting the processes of tumor promotion and progression. Bergamot essential oil also has anti-hypertensive and cardiac-regulating properties, and can be used as a mosquito repellent. It also has mucolytic and expectorant effects, helping toimprove respiratory function.
