Menopause is the consequence of a decrease in the stock of ovarian follicles that leads to hormonal imbalances. According to WHO, it has been characterized by a menstruation cessation (amenorrhea) for more than 12 months.
Perimenopause (or premenopause) is the transition from the period of "normal" ovarian activity to menopause.
