Medisur's Autotest Maux d'Estomac helps anticipate the risk of stomach cancer and peptic ulcer.

What is Medisur Autotest Mauvais d'Estomac used for?

The Medisur Autotest Mauvais d'estomac is a rapid, highly specific and easy-to-use immunological test for the detection of Helicobacter pylori abtigen in stools. It can be used to avoid gastroscopy in H. pylori-negative patients with a low risk of developing a severe lesion, and to refer H. pylori-positive patients for gastroscopic assessment. Gastric cancer caused by H. pylori is responsible for 5,000 deaths a year in France.

The Helicobacter pylori bacterium plays a major role in the development of peptic ulcer disease (95% of duodenal ulcers and 70% of gastric ulcers), as well as in the carcinogenesis of gastric cancer (over 90% adenocarcinoma).
Gastric cancer caused by H. pylori is responsible for 5,000 deaths a year in France.

This test is intended for patients :

  • who regularly buy gastric dressings or PPIs and complain of abdominal pain or heartburn.
  • Who have a family history of gastric cancer.
  • History of ulcers without evidence of H. pylori eradication (including before taking NSAIDs or low-dose aspirin).
  • Immunological thrombocytopenic purpura

Anticipates risk of gastric cancer, peptic ulcer, detects anti-Helicobacter pylori antibodies and refers H. Pylori-positive patients to undergo gastroscopy.

How do I use Medisur Autotest Maux d'Estomac?

Read the instructions carefully and in full before use. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, and dry them well. Take all the components out of the box and place them on a clean, flat surface. Identify each kit item by referring to the instructions. Open the pouch and remove the cassette.

  • Raise the toilet seat and stick the adhesive parts of the collection paper securely to the side of the toilet bowl. Emit stool onto the collection paper.
  • Unscrew the collection tube cap.
  • Dip the rod in at least 3 different places and 2 cm deep into the stool. Replace the collection cap in the sample tube and screw back on, shaking vigorously.
  • Hold sample tube vertically. Invert sample tube and remove cap. Transfer two full drops of the extracted sample into the sample well marked (S) on the test cassette.
  • Wait 5 minutes.

To read the result, refer to the instructions:

  • The test is positive if two colored bands appear under the T (Test) and C (Control) marks. The intensity of the T line may be less than the intensity of the C line: this does not affect the result. In this case, the result indicates that anti-HP antibodies are present in the blood and that you should consult your doctor.
  • The test is negative if a single colored band appears in the reading window below the C (Control) mark. In this case, the result means that there are no detectable anti-HP antibodies in the blood.
  • The test is invalid if no line appears or a colored band forms under the T (Test) mark without a line appearing under the C mark. In this case, the stomachache self-test cannot be interpreted: it appears invalid.
