PANTOPRAZOLE Mylan 20mg Stomach Ulcer 14 tablets

For warnings, precautions and contraindications, please refer to the package insert.

Pantoprazole Mylan is a gastric antisecretory.

It is a generic of PANTOZOL CONTROL.

Acid reflux, heartburn... These are two typical symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD occurs when some of the acidic contents of the stomach back up into the esophagus. The stomach is lined with mucus to protect it from acidity, but the esophagus is unprotected: in the event of acid reflux, the sensations will be most unpleasant.

What are the symptoms?

  • Pyrosis: a burning sensation in the thorax, usually experienced after eating or in certain positions: bent over (when tying shoes or washing the floor) or lying down, especially at night.
  • Regurgitation: reflux of stomach contents (acid, food) into the throat without nausea or the effort to vomit.
  • Epigastric pain occurs in ¼ of GERD sufferers.

Description of PANTOPRAZOLE Mylan 20mg Stomach Ulcer 14 tablets

This medicine belongs to the family of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It reduces the secretion of gastric acids, thus combating the pain caused by reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus. Its action is prolonged, but delayed: the drop in stomach acidity takes a few days.

It is used for the short-term treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (heartburn, regurgitation).

Directions for use and dosage

This medicine is taken before a meal, preferably at the same time each day. It should be swallowed with a glass of water, without being crushed or chewed.

Adults over 18: 1 tablet per day.

Our advice and expert opinions

Drug treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is only appropriate when the following simple measures have failed to relieve symptoms:

  • do not lie down for two hours after a meal,
  • do not bend forward (bend your knees to pick up objects),
  • don't wear clothes that compress the abdomen (girdles, etc.),
  • raise the head of the bed by 5 to 10 cm by placing wedges under the feet or a thick pillow under the mattress,
  • avoid fizzy drinks, prefer foods that are easy to digest.

These tips are designed to prevent acidic stomach contents from flowing back into the esophagus during digestion.

If you are a smoker, continued smoking is a major obstacle to treatment; nicotine increases gastric acidity and reduces the effectiveness of the muscle that closes the junction between the esophagus and the stomach.

Please note that this medicine is not like any other. Read the package insert carefully before ordering. Keep medicines out of the reach of children. If symptoms persist, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. Beware of incompatibilities with your current products.

Pharmacotherapeutic group: Drugs of acidity disorders, Proton pump inhibitors, ATC code: A02BC02.

PANTOPRAZOLE EG LABO contains the active substance pantoprazole, which reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach by blocking the "proton pump". It therefore reduces the amount of acid present in your stomach.

PANTOPRAZOLE EG LABO is used for the short-term treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux (eg heartburn, acid regurgitation) in adults.

Gastroesophageal reflux is the rise of stomach acid in the esophagus, which can become inflamed and painful. This can cause symptoms such as a burning sensation in the chest up to the throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

Acid reflux and heartburn may disappear after one day of treatment with PANTOPRAZOLE EG LABO. However, this medicine is not intended to provide immediate relief. It may be necessary to continue treatment for 2 or 3 consecutive days for symptom improvement.

Laboratory EG Labo

COMPOSITION (summary)
p cp
pantoprazole 20 mg
maltitol +
Soy lecithin +

INDICATIONS (summary)
This medicine belongs to the family of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It decreases the secretion of gastric acids and thus helps to combat the pain caused by the reflux of acidic contents of the stomach into the esophagus. It works for a long time, but delayed: the decrease of the acidity of the stomach requires a delay of a few days.
It is used in the short-term treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn, regurgitation ...).
ATTENTION (summary)
The effect of proton pump inhibitors is not immediate. 2 or 3 days of treatment may be necessary to observe a decrease in pain. This medication may not be suitable if heartburn is too much apart (less than 2 times a week); Consult your pharmacist.
It is best to consult a doctor in the following situations:
  • Digestive disorders appearing for the first time, or if disorders have changed recently;
  • disorders associated with weight loss;
  • difficulty swallowing or persistent abdominal discomfort;
  • history of stomach ulcer or digestive surgery;
  • hepatic insufficiency or jaundice;
  • if you need to have Chromogranin A (used for the diagnosis of certain tumors).
People with gastroesophageal reflux should avoid using drugs containing aspirin or NSAIDs that increase the acidity of the stomach. Paracetamol, however, is safe for treating pain or fever.
Conductor: This medication may occasionally cause dizziness and visual disturbances.
DRUG INTERACTIONS (summary)
This medication may decrease the absorption of certain protease inhibitors (such as atazanavir) used in the treatment of HIV: risk of decreased antiretroviral efficacy.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any medicine containing warfarin, ketoconazole or itraconazole.
PREGNANCY and BREASTFEEDING (summary)
Pregnancy :
No adverse effects to the unborn child have been established with this medication. Nevertheless, as a precaution, its use during pregnancy is reserved for situations for which there is no alternative treatment.

Breastfeeding:
The data currently available do not allow to know if this drug passes into breast milk: its use is not recommended during breastfeeding.
DIRECTIONS AND DOSAGE (summary)
This medication is taken before a meal, preferably at the same time each day. It must be swallowed with a glass of water, without being crunched or crushed.

Usual dosage:

  • Adult over 18 years old: 1 tablet daily.
Treatment should not exceed 4 weeks without medical advice. If symptoms persist after 2 weeks of treatment or recurrence after stopping treatment, tests may be necessary.
TIPS (summary)
Medication for gastroesophageal reflux is conceivable only when the following simple measures have not been used to eliminate the symptoms:
  • do not lie down within two hours after a meal,
  • do not lean forward (bend your knees to pick up objects),
  • do not wear clothes that compress the abdomen (sheath ...),
  • raise the head of the bed 5 to 10 cm by placing wedges under the feet or a thick pillow under the mattress,
  • avoid soft drinks, prefer foods that are easy to digest.
These tips are intended to prevent the acidic contents of the stomach from flowing back into the esophagus during digestion.
If you are a smoker, the continuation of smoking is a major barrier to treatment; Nicotine increases gastric acidity and reduces the efficiency of the muscle that closes the junction between the esophagus and the stomach.
ADVERSE POSSIBLE EFFECTS (summary)
Adverse events that have been reported during treatment with pantoprazole are as follows: Very occasionally, proton pump inhibitors may also cause the development of cutaneous lupus. In case of skin rash, especially in areas exposed to the sun, consult your doctor without delay.

LEXICON (summary)

NSAIDs
Abbreviation for nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Family of anti-inflammatory drugs that are not derived from cortisone (steroids), and the best known is aspirin.

antecedent
Affection healed or still evolving. The antecedent can be personal or family. The antecedents are the story of a person's health.

anaphylactic shock
Shock of allergic origin manifested by a sudden drop in blood pressure, due to extreme dilation of the blood vessels. It occurs after contact with an allergenic substance (food, insect sting, injection or drug absorption).

diarrhea
The strict medical sense of diarrhea is "stool delivery too frequent and too abundant". In fact, common sense equates diarrhea with the notion of frequent, liquid stools. Normally, the stools are pasty, but the emission of liquid stools or barely formed, without pain or particular associated disorder, is not pathological. One can speak of diarrhea when the liquid stool emissions are repeated during the day, and that the needs are imperious or painful.
Many drugs can accelerate intestinal transit and make the stool more liquid, without this undesirable effect being really worrying.
Antibiotics can alter the digestive flora, essential for digestion, and cause diarrhea more or less troublesome but benign. The effect appears immediately or after a few days of treatment. A form of severe and exceptional diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, can be observed after antibiotic treatment; this condition results in the emission of mucus and false membranes (resembling skin flaps) associated with abdominal pain; constipation may replace the initial diarrhea. Pseudomembranous colitis can occur several days after stopping antibiotic treatment and requires urgent medical advice.

enteric
Qualifies certain tablets or capsules in which the active substance is protected from the acidity of the stomach.

white blood cells
Cell present in the blood. There are different types: neutrophils, which increase during infections; eosinophilic polynuclear cells, the number of which is high in people with allergies or in cases of parasitosis; basophilic polynuclear cells; lymphocytes and monocytes, the number of which increases in case of viral infection or bone marrow involvement.

gynecomastia
Increased breast volume in men, congenital or due to disease, tumor or certain medications.

hepatitis
Inflammation of the liver. It may be due to a drug, a virus, alcohol or some other cause.
Viral hepatitis usually heals without treatment. Unlike hepatitis A and E, which are almost always benign, hepatitis B and C can become chronic: the virus persists in the patient's body, which remains contagious but does not necessarily suffer from liver problems. Chronic hepatitis is said to be active when the virus continues to destroy the cells of the liver, destruction translated by the increase of transaminases in the blood.

Hepatic insufficiency
Inability of the liver to perform its function, which is essentially the elimination of certain wastes, but also the synthesis of many biological substances essential to the body: albumin, cholesterol and coagulation factors (vitamin K, etc.).

platelets
Small cells present in the blood: they participate in the formation of clots.

polyps
Outgrowth on a mucous membrane.

angioedema
Edema ofAllergic reaction usually affecting the face. Quincke's edema results in sometimes dramatic swelling. The eyelids are often the first affected. In the rare cases where swelling affects the throat, breathing problems may occur and urgent treatment is required.

allergic reaction
Reaction due to the hypersensitivity of the body to a drug. Allergic reactions can be very varied: urticaria, angioedema, eczema, rash of measles-like pimples, etc. Anaphylactic shock is a generalized allergic reaction that causes discomfort by sudden drop in blood pressure.

gastroesophageal reflux
Raising of gastric juice in the esophagus and the back of the throat, favored by lying down after meals, by leaning forward, by wearing clothes that compress the abdomen. This reflux is sometimes due to a hiatal hernia.

symptoms
Disorder felt by a person with an illness. The same symptom can translate different diseases and the same disease does not necessarily give the same symptoms in all patients.

transaminases
Enzymes dosed in the blood, the rate of which rises during certain hepatitis. They appear in blood tests under the name of SGOT and SGPT or ASAT and ALAT.

triglycerides
Fats circulating in the blood. They come mainly from the assimilation of fats, sugars and alcohol.

ulcer
Intense lesion of the skin, mucous membranes or cornea.
  • Leg ulcer: chronic wound due to poor circulation of blood.
  • Peptic ulcer: localized wound of the lining of the stomach or duodenum, due to an excess of acidity and very often to the presence of a bacterium (Helicobacter pylori). The ulcer is favored by stress, alcohol, smoking and certain medications (aspirin, NSAIDs, etc.).

dizziness
Symptom that may indicate a sense of loss of balance (common sense) or, more strictly, a feeling of rotation on oneself or the environment (medical sense).
