Our advice and advice from pharmacy experts
Warts arise following contamination of the skin by a virus. Either by direct contact with a person with warts, or by indirect contact with a contaminated surface.
A few preventive measures:
- do not touch or scratch another person's warts
- do not use the towel or washcloth of a person with wart(s)
- do not share the socks or shoes of someone who has plantar warts
- avoid walking barefoot in public places (around swimming pools, changing rooms, gymnasiums, public showers, etc.) and wear sandals or flip-flops in these places
- do not use a file or pumice stone that has been used to polish a wart
- dry your feet after a shower or bath as the virus penetrates more easily into damp skin.
