A wet cough, also known as a productive cough, is characterized by the presence of sputum, or consecutive sputum, from the throat or lungs. Composed of water, mucus and often bacteria, viruses and white blood cells, these secretions form a more or less thick liquid that can be expelled through the mouth when coughing, in the form of mucus and sputum.
It is generally present in cases ofbronchial infection or chronic obstructive bronchitis of various causes.

HUMEX PHYTO's Creeping Ivy syrup is used to treat wet coughs.

The active ingredients in climbing ivy are mainly saponins and hederasaponins. These active ingredients have expectorant (in cases of bronchitis) and antispasmodic properties. The plant also contains flavonoids, sterols and phenolic acids. It also contains falcarinol derivatives, which are sometimes responsible for allergenic effects.

For sore throats in children over 12, a mouthwash can be used to soothe and relieve the throat.

Description of HUMEX PHYTO Cough Syrup with Climbing Ivy

HumexPhyto Sirop Toux is a herbal medicine based on Climbing Ivy, renowned for its expectorant properties.

Its honey taste makes it easy to give to children aged 2 and over.

A productive cough is the body's defense mechanism, and should be respected. The medicines you use encourage coughing and enable you to expectorate the mucus in your lungs. Bronchial thinners are indicated in the treatment of bronchial disorders when thick mucus stagnates in the respiratory tract. However, they should not be used systematically, as simple humidification (nasal instillation or gargling with a saline solution) may suffice to drain secretions.

Directions for use and dosage

Adolescents, adults and the elderly: Take one 7.5 ml measuring cup 2 times a day.
Use in children

  • Children aged 6 to 11: Take one 5 ml measuring cup 2 times a day.
  • Children aged 2 to 5: Take one 2.5 ml measuring cup twice a day.

Introducing HUMEX PHYTO Cough Syrup with Climbing Ivy

Humexphyto Cough Syrup is a drinkable solution in a 100ml bottle.

Our advice and expert opinions

Climbing ivy is a hardy plant. It can grow from 30 to 45 cm each year, and its branches measure between 10 and 15 m. In ancient Greece, the Greeks used to make a drink from a mixture of wine and macerated ivy leaves to protect themselves from poisoning. Later, in Europe, ivy was thought to have febrifuge, purgative, sudorific and vermifuge properties. It was therefore considered to have many more benefits than it does today. More recently, the plant has been used to soothe burns, ulcers, rheumatic and neuralgic pains.
