Zoom on Coprah oil:
Copra oil, sometimes called deodorized coconut oil, comes from the dried pulp of coconut, unlike the virgin coconut oil that comes from the fresh pulp and keeps a delicious smell of coconut.
Coprah oil is refined and deodorized to ensure a very stable oil with oxidation, white color and neutral odor.
It is a good alternative to virgin coconut oil for those who prefer a more neutral product or scented products where the smell of coconut is not desired.
Coprah oil is particularly interesting in soapmaking because it is one of the few vegetable oils (with Babassu oil and Palm oil) to contain a high proportion of lauric acid. This saturated fatty acid of relatively short chain (12 carbons) has very interesting properties once saponified because it solubilizes rather easily and quickly in water, thus producing a beautiful light foam and bringing a "fondant" very pleasant to the soaps. It will also bring a good cleaning power.
