Cardamom is a herbaceous plant with seeds widely used in cooking as a spice. It is native to India, and more precisely to the Malabar coast, where the Cardamom Mountains are found, giving it its name.

Cardamom essential oil has a number of virtues:

  • Digestive stimulant and appetizer : improves digestion, helps expel intestinal gas and stimulates the appetite.
  • Antispasmodic : calms muscular spasms thanks to terpenyl acetate molecules that inhibit the spasm-triggering process.
  • Expectorant: stimulates the glands of the respiratory mucous membranes, liquefying secretions to promote their expulsion. Recommended in case of wet coughs.
  • Antiseptic and vermifuge: anti-infectious and effective against intestinal parasites.

Cardamom essential oil is renowned for its digestive tonic properties. It stimulates digestion by promoting the secretion of digestive enzymes, which contributes to better assimilation of nutrients. It also helps expel intestinal gas and stimulates the appetite, making it an invaluable ally for digestive comfort.

The terpenyl acetate present in Cardamom essential oil gives it antispasmodic and neurotropic properties. This molecule acts on the nervous system, helping to trigger muscular spasms. It helps suppress or calm muscle spasms and associated pain, providing effective relief.

The 1,8 cineole, also known as eucalyptol, present in Cardamom essential oil gives it expectorant and anti-catarrhal properties. This molecule stimulates the glands of the respiratory mucosa, helping to fluidify secretions and expel them from the airways. It is particularly useful for relieving respiratory ailments such as coughs and colds.

The 1,8 cineole present in Cardamom essential oil also gives it antiseptic and antihelmintic properties. This molecule has an anti-infectious action that fights bacterial and fungal infections.
