Our advice and opinions from pharmacy experts

Mequinol exerts a depigmenting action by inhibiting the synthesis of melanin.

Spotted skin: pigmentation disorder
Skin color is normally defined by a person's phototype and sun exposure, the areas frequently exposed to the sun being darker than the hidden areas. The natural pigment that determines the color of the skin is melanin, which the body secretes to protect the skin from UV radiation, which gives a tan. Pigmentation disorders are linked to a poor functioning of melanin which causes either hyperpigmentation (dark spots).

What is melasma ?
Can take the form of a mask, these brown and diffuse spots appear on the cheekbones, temples and forehead, sometimes without sun exposure. But UV rays accentuate them. Often of hormonal origin, they occur following a pregnancy, taking oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy for menopause or certain drugs. This type of stain is particularly sensitive.
