Henri de Ricqles, a young Dutch merchant arrives in Lyon in 1824. Passionate about botany, he is particularly interested in peppermint, plant which he is convinced virtues. By dint of studies and experiments, he obtains an exceptional essential oil by distillation of fresh mint, in 1838, "mint alcohol is born".
The essential oil contained in small amounts in the leaves of Fresh Peppermint (Mentha piperita) has refreshing properties.
