Gifrer Glycerin suppositories are a rectal laxative and are used for the treatment of transient constipation in infants.

Description of Glycerin Suppository Infant Gifrer Baby Constipation / 10

Suppositories with glycerin cause rapid evacuation of the rectosigmoid by triggering the reflex of defecation. This occurs within 5 to 30 minutes after setting.
Glycerin stimulates peristalsis and reduces the absorption of water through its osmotic and hygroscopic. It also has a local irritating power that participates in reflex defecation .

Advice for use and dosage

Rectal way. The suppository must be introduced at the level of the anus.
If necessary, the suppository can be soaked in cold water to facilitate introduction.
Infants : 1 suppository 5 to 30 minutes before the time chosen for the exemption with interruption of 24 hours every 3 days.

INDICATIONS (summary)
It is a laxative administered by way rectally. It triggers a contraction of the rectum which allows the evacuation of stool.
It is used in the treatment of constipation, especially when the stools accumulate in the rectum and that repeated pushes do not allow to evacuate them. It is also used to prepare the rectum before an endoscopic examination (rectoscopy).
ATTENTION (summary)
Laxatives administered by way rectal should not be used more than 10 days without medical advice: they may prevent the normal reflex expulsion of stool.
Precautions are necessary in people with hemorrhoids , anal fissure or ulcerative colitis .
PREGNANCY and BREASTFEEDING (summary)
This medication can be used on an ad hoc basis to treat constipation in pregnant or nursing women.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND DOSAGE (summary)
