Varromed consists of two active ingredients: oxalic acid dihydrate and formic acid. It combines the properties of each substance: oxalic acid (OA) targets phoretic varroa mites, while formic acid (FA) targets varroa mites reproducing in the brood. Thus, according to the pharmaceutical company BeeVital, which owns the product, it can be used in the spring, fall, or winter. Ready to use, it is applied in liquid form by dripping it onto the bees. However, repeated application of VarroMed may lead to increased bee mortality. The waiting period (the time that must elapse between the last application and harvest) is 0 days, with a recommendation not to treat during a honey flow.
