Our advice and expert opinions

Mosquitoes, horseflies, augusts, wasps, hornets, bees, ants... these are just some of the insects whose bites are common in summer, in the garden, at the outdoor table, or when out and about.

Ticks are mites that feed on the blood of other living creatures. Their preferred period is between late spring and early autumn, when temperatures are between 10 and 25 degrees. To reduce the risk of being bitten, we recommend that you apply a repellent to your skin before any walk in a green space.

When you return home, thoroughly search every inch of your body. Ticks love folds, the scalp, the navel and all the little nooks and crannies where they can hide easily. Once you've checked that you're dry, take a shower, soaping yourself gently to remove any ticks you may have missed.
