In medicine, physiological solution has a number of functions. In particular, it can be used to clean the eyes, nose and ears of newborn babies. Physiological saline solution is used in many situations as part of daily hygiene, for the eyes for example, but also for the nose, and is often used on infants, but also to a lesser extent on adults. It can be used to wash the nose and perform what specialists call "nose cleansing", particularly in cases of nasal obstruction. It can also be applied to the eyes to soothe itching, for example. Ocular use :
Soak a cotton pad and gently wipe baby's eyelids, or pour a few drops into the eye and wipe with a sterile compress. In adults the product can be used as an instillation, eye wash or eye bath.
Nasal use:
Place the infant in a supine position, head tilted to one side. Gently insert the single-dose tip into the nostril. Gently press down to obtain the required dose. Repeat if necessary in the other nostril.
Raise the child's head and gently wipe away any excess liquid, waiting a few moments for the solution to take effect.
For infants, instill the product with minimum pressure to avoid any risk of contamination of the middle ear.
