Our advice and expert advice in pharmacy
Conjunctivitis is simply inflammation of the conjunctiva, the membrane that covers the white of the eye. It can be of viral, bacterial or simply allergic origin, especially during periods of pollen proliferation.
Conjunctivitis is magnified by :
- The red eye: it represents the first sign sought by the doctor and one of the most essential. This may involve both the whiteness of the eye, but also the inside of the eyelids;
- A foreign body sensation in the eye that equates to "grains of sand";
- Clear or purulent discharge;
- Itching more or less intense;
- Watery eyes
- Swelling of the eyelids which corresponds to a palpebral edema. It is driven by inflammation and then resorbs naturally.
