Our advice and expert opinions
How to prevent wart contamination?
One French person in four has warts. Most often found on the soles of the feet (plantar warts) and hands (vulgar warts), these small, benign skin swellings affect children up to adolescence, but many adults also suffer from warts. Highly contagious, certain precautions can help limit the risk of infection.
- Avoid walking barefoot on contaminated ground. Put on a pair of flip-flops or sandals when you're in public places where there's a risk of contamination.
- Don't share your toiletries. When you have a wart, don't share towels or clothes. Remember to wipe your hands and feet, as well as your fingers and toes, thoroughly.
- Beware of virus proliferation. Wash your hands thoroughly after touching or treating a wart. To reduce contamination and the spread of the virus, do not reuse a file or pumice stone that has already been used to rub a wart.
