Our advice and expert opinions

Pimples on the décolleté after a day on the beach or hiking? Even if it's benign, summer lucite can ruin your vacation in the sun.

Symptoms of sun allergy, known as summer lucite, appear between 12 and 72 hours after prolonged exposure to the sun.

Small red pimples appear on sun-exposed areas, says the dermatologist, and can cause itching. The upper torso, arms and legs are particularly affected.

UVA rays are responsible for the allergic reaction, not UVB rays, which cause sunburn.

The best thing to do after the rash appears?

Soothe the itching, which can last a few days. The best solution is still to consult a doctor, who will prescribe a local cortisone treatment to be applied to the affected areas.

At home, you need to be as gentle as possible with your skin: sprays of thermal spring water and a dose of moisturizer can help relieve pruritus.
