What is Novalac AR+ infant milk 1st Age Anti Regurgitation 800g used for?
Regurgitation is common in young babies, but usually not serious. This is because their digestive system is still immature. This is particularly true of the muscle that closes the opening between the esophagus and the stomach. Its role is to prevent stomach contents rising into the esophagus, but it's not yet working properly. As a result, stomach contents frequently back up into the mouth, causing regurgitation.
This phenomenon is called gastro-oesphageal reflux disease (GERD). It's the leading cause of regurgitation and vomiting in infants. As the child grows, sits up more often and starts to eat solid foods, regurgitation will diminish, disappearing completely around the child's first birthday. Until then, to reduce the frequency of regurgitation, the first thing to do is to make sure your child doesn't eat too much or too fast. Take breaks during feedings to allow your baby to burp. This will help him evacuate the air that distends his stomach and promotes gastro-oesophageal reflux.
