Our advice and advice from natural health experts

Diarrhea , unlike constipation, is due to an acceleration of intestinal transit . The stools, made up of food residues, pass through the colon too quickly and the water or nutrients they make up do not have time to be extracted as is the case in the normal digestion process.
Painful and bothersome, diarrhea is a particularly difficult digestive disorder to live with. However, it is usually mild and can be easily stopped with a few simple tricks.

  • Prefer dishes that are easy to digest, soups and soups also help to rehydrate, which is very important in the event of diarrhea.
  • Choose rice, carrots or well-cooked bananas.
  • Also remember to drink enough water.
  • Foods that attack the digestive system are not recommended during the period of diarrhea. A distinction is made between very fatty products, sugary foods, or even caffeinated drinks.

LEXICON (summary)

antibiotics
Substance capable of blocking the growth of certain bacteria or killing them. The spectrum of an antibiotic is the set of bacteria on which this product is usually active. Unlike bacteria, viruses are not sensitive to antibiotics. The first antibiotics were extracted from fungal cultures: penicillium (penicillin), streptomyces (streptomycin). They are currently manufactured by chemical synthesis. Antibiotics are divided into families: penicillins, cephalosporins, macrolides, tetracyclines (cyclins), sulfonamides, aminoglycosides, lincosanides, phenicolics, polymyxins, quinolones, imidazoles, etc.
Inappropriate use of antibiotics can encourage the development of resistance: use an antibiotic only on medical prescription, respect its dosage and duration, do not give and do not advise another person an antibiotic that you have been prescribed .

diarrhea
The strict medical meaning of diarrhea is "too frequent and too much stool." In fact, common sense equates diarrhea with the concept of watery and frequent bowel movements. Normally, the stools are pasty, but the emission of liquid or barely formed stools, without pain or any particular associated disorder, is not pathological. We can talk about diarrhea when the repetitions of liquid stools are repeated during the day, and the needs are pressing or painful.
Many drugs can speed up bowel movements and make stools more fluid, without this side effect being cause for concern.
Antibiotics can alter the digestive flora, essential for digestion, and cause more or less bothersome but mild diarrhea. The effect appears immediately or after a few days of treatment. An exceptional and severe form of diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, can be observed after antibiotic treatment; this condition results in the emission of mucus and false membranes (resembling flaps of skin) associated with abdominal pain; constipation can replace the initial diarrhea. Pseudomembranous colitis can occur several days after stopping antibiotic treatment and requires urgent medical advice.

Hepatic insufficiency
Inability of the liver to fulfill its function, which is essentially the elimination of certain waste products, but also the synthesis of numerous biological substances essential to the organism: albumin, cholesterol and coagulation factors (vitamin K, etc.).

diarrhea
A method of manufacturing a drug, which allows a slow and gradual release of active substances in the body.
Abbreviation: LP.

dosage
Quantity and distribution of the dose of a drug according to the age, weight and general condition of the patient.

allergic reaction
Reaction due to the body's hypersensitivity to a drug. Allergic reactions can take a variety of aspects: hives, angioedema, eczema, rash reminding of measles, etc. Anaphylactic shock is a generalized allergic reaction that causes discomfort from a sudden drop in blood pressure.

ulcerative colitis
Inflammatory disease of the rectum and colon, which progresses by flares. Each push is accompanied by fever, mucous and bloody stools.

overdose
Taking an excessive amount of a drug exposes you to an increase in the intensity of side effects, or even the appearance of specific side effects.
This overdose can result from accidental intoxication, or voluntary into suicide: it is then advisable to consult the poison control center in your region (list in appendix of the book). But most often, the overdose is the result of an error in the understanding of the prescription, or the search for an increase in effectiveness by exceeding the recommended dosage. Finally, untimely self-medication can lead to excessive absorption of the same substance contained in different drugs. Certain drugs expose this risk more particularly, because they are considered (wrongly) as harmless: vitamins A and D, aspirin, etc. Stopping or reducing medication intake makes it possible to eliminate the disorders linked to an overdose.

symptomatic treatment
Treatment that suppresses or alleviates the symptoms of an illness without addressing its cause.

intestinal transit
Route of food from the stomach to its elimination in the form of stool.

heart rhythm disturbance
Severe or mild abnormality in the frequency of heart contractions. Extrasystole is a contraction occurring just before or after a normal contraction, often perceived as a slight shock in the chest. Fibrillation is an irregular and disordered contraction. Other disorders exist: torsades de pointes, Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome, Bouveret's disease, tachysystole, flutter and atrioventricular block, etc.

HIV
Abbreviation of the human immunodeficiency virus (in English HIV), responsible for an infection that can progress to AIDS.
A distinction is made between HIV-1 (responsible for the global epidemic) and HIV-2 (much less widespread than HIV-1, especially present in West Africa).
