Peppermintessential oil is a general stimulant and nerve tonic. It is antiseptic, antifungal and anti-herpetic (even acyclovir-resistant). It is also a nasal decongestant, migraine reducer and skin anesthetic.

The distinctive scent of peppermint (Mentha piperita - family Lamiaceae) is found in many products, including toothpastes and gels. This fragrance is due above all to one of its main constituents, menthol, well-known for its soothing, insecticidal and refreshing effects. Internally, this plant is used mainly to improve digestion.

  • Spasmodic colitis and digestive disorders: Peppermint helps relieve intestinal spasms, bloating and abdominal pain associated with digestive disorders such as spasmodic colitis and irritable bowel syndrome.
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease: Due to its antispasmodic and antacid properties, peppermint essential oil can help relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, such as heartburn and acid regurgitation.
  • Urinary lithiasis: Peppermint is also beneficial for people suffering from urinary lithiasis, helping to dissolve kidney stones and relieve the pain associated with this condition.

How to use these essential oil pearls?

We recommend taking 1 pearl a day, at the beginning of or during a meal for children aged 12 and over.
For adults, we recommend taking 1 to 2 pearls a day, at the start of or with a meal.

What are the precautions for use?

  • Neurotoxic at very high doses, do not exceed the recommended dosage.
  • Do not use topically on children, especially near the nose and respiratory tract, as it may cause spasms of the larynx or bronchi, leading to choking and convulsions.
  • Not recommended for children, pregnant or breast-feeding women
  • Possible allergy to menthol
  • 2g of peppermint essential oil may lead to abolition of reflexes and bulbar paralysis
  • High doses may cause headaches, bradycardia, tremors, ataxia and insomnia.
  • Do not use in case of cardiovascular disorders, as it is a vasodilator
  • Not to be taken orally at the same time as homeopathic treatment
  • Not recommended for epileptics
  • Not for use by asthmatics without the advice of an allergist.

Peppermint essential oil contains monoterpene alcohols, monoterpene ketones and monoterpene esters.
