What is Chlorexidine/Benzalkonium/Benzyl Alcohol Mylan used for?

This medicine is indicated for the antisepsis of small superficial wounds. It is a solution for topical application.

The skin is the body's first line of defence against external aggression. It protects against environmental impurities and the sun, and acts as a barrier against germs and other pathogens. An open wound from a cut or abrasion represents a chink in this protective armor, allowing pathogens to infiltrate the body. In the case of an open skin wound, the wound must be disinfected before being covered with a dressing or compress. This prevents germs and other bacteria from entering the body through the open wound. If you fail to disinfect the wound, you expose yourself to a certain risk of infection: pathogenic germs can spread throughout the body via the bloodstream.

If it's a small cut or scrape, in the vast majority of cases the wound will bleed. It's only human to want to stop the bleeding as quickly as possible. Nevertheless, let the blood flow for a short while: this way, the bleeding will allow pathogens that have penetrated the wound to emerge, prompting an initial natural disinfection of the skin. To clean the wound, let running water run over the affected part of the body. If this is not possible, dab the area with a clean cloth and lukewarm water. Carefully check the wound for foreign bodies. You can use tweezers to carefully remove small gravels and splinters of glass or wood.

Once the wound has been thoroughly cleaned and is no longer bleeding, the next step is to disinfect it. To do this, use an antiseptic spray containing the active ingredient chlorhexidine, for example, which is highly effective against a multitude of bacteria. Finally, protect the wound with a bandage to prevent pathogens from infiltrating from the outside. For larger cuts and abrasions, use a sterile compress secured with a gauze bandage.
