Presentation of the antigenic self-test for the detection of Coronavirus

The Covid 19 Autotest available in your online bio pharmacy is a self-test by nasal swab .

  • Detects antigens of SARS-CoV-2, responsible for COVID-19
  • Nasopharyngeal swab
  • Result in 10 minutes

The Covid self-test is carried out from a simple nasal sample. Minimally invasive or painful, it allows you to test yourself or with the help of someone from home, without having to go to a medical laboratory or pharmacy to perform a test on site.

Apart from the sampling, the operation is similar to the antigenic tests offered in pharmacies. As part of the COVID self-test, the sample is nasal: all you have to do is rub the swab inside the nostril , 4 centimeters after entering the nostril.

What is the Covid-19 Autotest for?

The Covid-19 Autotest allows you to confirm the presence of the virus when the test is positive. Its advantage lies in the speed of rendering of the result (10 minutes).

Advice for use with COVID-19 self-testing

How to carry out a rapid test for the detection of antigens of SARS-CoV-2 , responsible for COVID-19?

The antigenic tests carried out in pharmacies are carried out from a nasopharyngeal sample, much deeper and invasive which can sometimes make performing the test complicated.

The Covid-19 self-test is carried out in 4 stages:

  • For the COVID self-test , once the sample has been taken, the swab is placed in a tube in which the reagent is added.
  • The swab should then be squeezed to allow the nasal swab to mix with the COVID Self-Test Reagent.
  • Once this mixture has been correctly carried out, 2 drops are placed in the location provided for it on the test cassette.
  • The liquid will then migrate into the test cassette and the result of your COVID self-test can be interpreted after 10 to 15 minutes.

Procedure for use - The Covid-19 self-test is carried out in 4 steps:

  1. Place the pre-filled tube with the extraction buffer on the rack and remove the aluminum cap.
  2. Insert the swab horizontally into the nasal cavity until it touches the posterior wall of the nasopharynx. Rub the surface of the nasopharyngeal mucosa.
  3. Rotate the swab for approximately 10 seconds, pressing the end against the inside of the tube to release the antigen from the swab, especially in the case of a viscous sample.
  4. Place the filter tip on the tube and place 4 drops of solution in well S using the dropper tip.

Expressing the sample : Remove the swab while pressing its head against the inside of the extraction tube to extract as much liquid as possible.

Read the result at 10 minutes . Do not interpret after 15 minutes.

In the event of a positive coronavirus test

Positivity affirms the infection, with a significant viral presence. The person is therefore infected and infectious vis-à-vis the virus. The autotest has very good specificity, which means that there is no false positive. It is not necessary to re-check with a PCR test .

  • If my test is positive, I take my temperature twice a day and I do not take anti-inflammatory drugs or ibuprofen without my doctor's advice.
  • I avoid contact with other people in my household or in my place of residence. If possible, I don't touch them. I don't kiss them.
  • I do not receive at my home people outside my home except caregivers or helpers and I stay, if possible, in a separate room.
  • I do not share my bed and I eat my meals alone in my room.
  • I wash my hands very often with soap and water and dry them with a personal towel or disposable hand towel.
  • When I cough, I blow my nose using a tissue that I then throw away.
  • I ventilate and clean my home regularly. I do not share my everyday items: towels and washcloths, soap, cutlery, plates, telephone, etc ...
  • I eliminate the waste that may be contaminated in a dedicated and resistant plastic bag, which I close and keep at home 24 hours. I then throw it in the non-recyclable garbage bin.
  • For any question related to my state of health, I call my doctor.
  • If I am alone, worried and need answers, I call the free psychological listening number: 0800 130 000.

In case of negative antigen test

  • Individually, a negative result does not exclude the fact that the person is a carrier of Sars-Cov-2, due to the low sensitivity of these tests.
  • Collectively, it is absolutely essential to continue to protect oneself and to protect others by respecting barrier gestures.
  • In the event of symptoms suggestive of Covid-19 with a negative test , it is necessary to perform a PCR test which is more sensitive.

Autotest composition

  • 1 test cassette
  • 1 tube pre-filled with buffer
  • 1 sterile swab (CE0197)
  • 1 filter nozzle
  • 1 rack
  • 1 user manual

Precaution of use

  • Read the instructions in the leaflet carefully
  • The test must be performed and read in an area ensuring an ambient temperature of between 15 ° C and 30 ° C.
  • If the boxes are stored in a space where the temperature is <15 ° C, they should be allowed to come to room temperature (15-30 ° C) before performing the test.

Our advice and expert opinions in pharmacy

COVID-19 is an acute respiratory infection caused by a new CoronaVirus (CoV), SARS-CoV-2

  • A positive antigen test = a Covid-19 infection
  • A negative antigen test = undetermined result
  • A negative antigen test only provides false security .

Good to know :

  • Please note, self-tests without CE marking (or with a false CE marking) sold on merchant sites do not provide any guarantee of quality.
  • The quality of the nasopharyngeal sample is essential. A poorly done sample (orientation of the swab towards the upper part of the nose, for example) will not necessarily allow sufficient secretions and virus to be collected and may lead to a false negative.
  • The second important point is the period to take the sample . It is accepted that the incubation period of COVID-19 is on average 5 days after coming into contact with a contaminating person. During these 5 days, the “new patient” is asymptomatic, it is only after this period that fever, runny nose, cough or muscle pain will appear. It has been shown that PCR usually only becomes positive within 48 hours of clinical signs. Thus, a patient tested too early with a nasopharyngeal self-test will have a negative PCR because his viral load will be too low. This is why in the event that you have performed a self-test for covid tested negative while you are asymptomatic, it is advisable to repeat a PCR test 5 days after having seen a patient. The virus is usually eliminated within 10 days.

Covid-19 Prevention: Protect yourself and others by staying informed and taking appropriate precautions. Follow the advice of local health authorities.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, follow these recommendations:
  • Wash your hands frequently. Use soap and water, or a hydroalcoholic solution.
  • Stay away from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  • Wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • If you cough or sneeze, cover your nose and mouth with the bend of your elbow or with a tissue.
  • Stay home if you are not feeling well.
  • See a healthcare professional if you have a fever, cough, and have difficulty breathing.
  • Notify the healthcare professional by phone beforehand. He will be able to direct you quickly to the appropriate health establishment. This protects you, and prevents the spread of viruses and other infections.
Masks
Protective masks can help prevent people who wear them from spreading the virus to other people. Wearing a mask alone does not protect against COVID-19. It should be combined with physical distancing and hand hygiene measures. Follow the advice of local health authorities.
To date, three vaccines against COVID-19 (Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca) have a European marketing authorization. Their use in France follows the vaccination strategy established by the national health authorities. government.fr

Limit the side effects of a vaccine naturally Limit the side effects of a vaccine naturally

A vaccine is usually specific to one disease but not to another (hepatitis B vaccine and tetanus vaccine). Vaccination consists of introducing a substance (germ, bacterium, virus) into the body with the aim of causing the production of antibodies to protect against the disease. The active substance of a vaccine is an antigen intended to stimulate the body's natural defenses…
