What is Virbac Pronefra used for?
Maintaining balanced renal function is a key factor in your pet's health and well-being. Chronic renal failure is a common condition in dogs and cats, particularly as they age. This progressive disease leads to an accumulation of toxic waste in the body, affecting your pet's energy, appetite and quality of life. To slow down this deterioration, it is essential to control phosphorus intake and help eliminate uraemic toxins.
Pronefra® is an advanced scientific formulation developed by Virbac. It combines several natural ingredients carefully selected for their protective effect on renal function. Its presentation as a highly palatable oral suspension facilitates administration and guarantees optimal compliance, even in the most delicate animals.
The main benefits of Pronefra® are based on :
- Effective chelation of dietary phosphorus: Calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate bind to phosphorus in feed, reducing its intestinal absorption. This action is essential to limit the accumulation of phosphorus in the blood, which contributes to the progression of renal failure.
- Elimination of uremic toxins: Chitosan, a natural ingredient derived from crustacean shells, is recognized for its ability to trap certain uremic toxins in the digestive tract, limiting their passage into the bloodstream.
- Support for blood pressure: A marine oligopeptide plays a role in maintaining balanced blood pressure, essential for protecting kidney function.
- Excellent palatability: Aware that cats and dogs suffering from kidney disease can lose their appetite, Virbac has developed a particularly tasty formula to ensure easy, regular intake.
- Practical presentation: The suspension is supplied with a graduated dosing syringe, making it easy to keep to the correct dosage, and enabling it to be administered directly into the animal's mouth or mixed with food.
Daily use of Pronefra® helps to slow the progression of renal failure, reduce the risk of complications and improve the comfort of life for the dogs and cats concerned. For optimum support, it can be combined with Ipakitine Oral Powder Pot Vétoquinol, another recognized solution for the management of kidney disorders.
