Vitamin C and vitamin E deficiencies in tobacco smokers
Smoking causes a deficiency in vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and vitamin E (tocopherol).
Vitamin E and vitamin C are antioxidants, capable of neutralizing in our body the free radicals produced during inflammatory processes (smoking, cancer, Alzheimer's disease). Indeed, the free radicals generated by tobacco smoke gradually destroy the alveolar membranes.
Vitamin E (tocopherol) works in synergy with vitamin C, which explains why the intake of vitamin C significantly reduces the vitamin E deficiency observed in tobacco smokers.
Tobacco smokers still have vitamin E and vitamin C deficiencies, it is for these reasons that we recommend dietary supplements rich in natural vitamin C (acerola) and vitamin E

Dosage NICORETTE 2MG GLACIAL MINT WITHOUT SUGAR 105 GUMS
- Reserved for adults (from 15 years old).
- Chewing gums dosed at 2 mg of nicotine are not suitable for smokers strongly or very strongly addicted to nicotine (Fagerström test score of 7 to 10 or smoking more than 20 cigarettes per day: see "Advice / Health education ").
- Complete cessation of smoking: Treatment for nicotine addiction is usually done in 2 phases.
- 1st phase: Chew 1 gum each time the urge to smoke appears. The number of chewing gums dosed at 2 mg is generally 8 to 12 gums per day and must in no case exceed 30 gums per day. The duration of this phase is approximately 3 months, but may vary depending on the individual response.
- 2nd phase: When the urge to smoke is completely overcome, gradually reduce the number of chewing gums per day. Treatment will be stopped when consumption is reduced to 1 to 2 gums per day. It is recommended not to use chewing gum beyond 12 months. If during your treatment you continue to experience an uncontrollable urge to smoke or if your treatment has failed, consult your doctor. He can advise you to combine Nicorete 2 mg icing mint chewing gum with a form that delivers nicotine throughout the day: Nicorette transdermal patches.
- Temporary abstinence from tobacco: Chew 1 gum each time the urge to smoke appears. The number of chewing gums dosed at 2 mg is generally 8 to 12 gums per day and must in no case exceed 30 gums per day.
- Reduction of tobacco consumption: If possible, alternate nicotine gums and cigarettes. Chew an eraser as soon as the urge to smoke appears in order to minimize the consumption of cigarettes and stay as long as possible without smoking. The number of chewing gums per day is variable and depends on your needs. However, it should not exceed 30 gums per day. If a reduction in cigarette consumption has not been achieved after 6 weeks of treatment, it is recommended that you seek advice from a health professional. Reducing tobacco consumption should gradually lead to a complete cessation of smoking. This should be attempted as soon as possible within 6 months of starting treatment. If after 9 months after the start of treatment, the attempt to quit smoking completely has failed, it is recommended that you seek advice from a health professional. It is recommended not to use the gums beyond 12 months. To increase the chances of successfully quitting smoking completely, it is important to aim for a reduction of more than 50% in consumption during this reduction phase. Nicorette chewing gums help achieve this goal before quitting smoking completely.
- Method of administration: To be active, the nicotine contained in the gum and released by chewing, must be absorbed by the oral mucosa. If nicotine is swallowed with saliva, it has no effect. It is therefore important not to chew the gum too vigorously. Thus, the gum should be chewed for the first time, then kept against the cheek for about 10 minutes: the gum softens and allows the nicotine to be released gradually, to be absorbed by the oral mucosa, thus passing into the circulation. .
- Duration of treatment: For the complete cessation of smoking, the duration of use is limited to 12 months. If the feeling of "lack" persists or if you have difficulty stopping this medication, consult your doctor.
