What is Pileje Extrait de plantes Phytostandard EPS Gattilier used for?

EPS Gattilier Pileje, from Phytostandard plant extract, is a particularly effective dietary supplement for relieving premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms such as breast pain and menstrual irregularities. Rigorous clinical studies have confirmed its effectiveness in regulating menstrual cycles by increasing the secretion of progesterone, the hormone essential for stabilizing the female cycle. Active compounds in chasteberry, such as diterpenes, act directly on the pituitary gland, reducing prolactin production and thus regulating cycle length.

Chaste tree is also being studied for its potential benefits in the treatment of female infertility linked to progesterone deficiency. While promising, these results require further study to be fully confirmed. In addition, its use could be beneficial for women suffering from latent hyperprolactinemia, where it has demonstrated its efficacy in restoring a normal luteal phase, essential for fertility.

Health authorities widely recognize the traditional use of chasteberry to alleviate minor PMS disorders. For example, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) recommends its use to relieve premenstrual symptoms, although its use is limited to three consecutive cycles. In contrast, the German Ministry of Health's Commission E and ESCOP (European Scientific Coordination on Phytotherapy) recommend a longer course of treatment, suggesting a minimum of three months to fully experience its positive effects. This recognition underlines the versatility of chasteberry in the management of female hormonal disorders.

Biochemically, chasteberry is rich in diterpene compounds such as rotundifuran, as well as iridoids and flavonoids. These substances play a key role in the regulation of female hormones, in particular by inhibiting prolactin. The reduction in prolactin leads to a reduction in mastodynia, the often troublesome breast pain experienced before menstruation. A double-blind study conducted on 97 women showed that chasteberry extract significantly reduced these pains from the very first treatment cycle.

What's more, the dopaminergic effects of chasteberry, acting on D2 dopamine receptors, contribute to an overall improvement in the hormonal cycle. By regulating the pulsatile secretion of pituitary gonadotropins, it helps stabilize hormonal balance, thus limiting premenstrual syndrome symptoms such as irritability, breast tension and headaches. These sedative and anxiolytic effects make chasteberry an ideal ally for women suffering from severe PMS.

Finally, recent research suggests that chasteberry may have anti-cancer properties. Indeed, some of its compounds, such as casticin, have been shown to inhibit the proliferation of leukemia cells and induce their apoptosis, or self-destruction. These discoveries open up new prospects for the use of chasteberry in the treatment of hormone-dependent cancers, although these applications still require in-depth clinical validation.

Precautions for use

This dietary supplement is not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Because of its potential interactions, chaste tree should not be used in cases of hormone-dependent cancer or during dopaminergic treatment. Excessive consumption can have laxative effects, so it's crucial not to exceed the recommended daily dose. Store at room temperature, out of reach of children.

Its use is not recommended during pregnancy, breast-feeding, hormonal treatment or in vitro fertilization. Side effects may include headaches, digestive disorders or allergic reactions. If in doubt, consult a health professional before starting supplementation.
