Guayapi was founded by Claudie Ravel, Dr. Bernard Touati and Laerte Coaracy in 1990, after 3 years of feasibility studies.
Guayapi aims to promote wild harvest plants from Amazonia and Sri Lanka which meet 3 fundamental criteria: organic , social (fair trade) and environment (biodiversity). Guayapi is a builder of noble and ethical sectors of plants from their Lands of Origin. In 1993, Claudie Ravel forged a partnership going well beyond the simple commercial relationship with the Sateré Mawé Indians of central Amazonia in Brazil, by presenting their wild Waranà-Guaranà from the Lands of Origin on the European market.
Too often, indigenous and traditional populations do not have access to local and international markets. This is why Guayapi supports the Sateré Mawé tribe of Indians on a scale. There are 18,000 Indians today against 6,000 at the start of the project in 1993. The Waranà Project preserves the identity, culture and territory of the Sateré Mawé Indians. Through his field trips, Guayapi sources the best raw materials according to 3 fundamental criteria: organic, fair trade and biodiversity.
