Lomexin 600 mg vaginal capsule is a synthetic antifungal agent belonging to the imidazole pharmacological class. It is indicated for the local treatment of genital candidiasis (conditions caused by microscopic fungi), whether or not superinfected by Gram+ bacteria.

What is Lomexin 600 mg Vaginal Capsule used for?

Lomexin 600 mg Vaginal Capsule is a powerful antifungal agent belonging to the imidazole class. It is designed to effectively treat genital candidiasis, a condition caused by microscopic fungi such as Candida albicans. These infections, more commonly known as vaginal mycoses, are common in women, especially during specific periods such as menstruation, pregnancy or after takingantibiotics. They often manifest as redness, itching and vaginal discomfort. Thanks to its localized action, Lomexin rapidly relieves these symptoms by eliminating the fungi responsible.

What makes this product essential in the treatment of genital mycoses? Firstly, it directly targets the cause of the infection. Unlike other treatments, Lomexin doesn't just mask symptoms: it directly attacks the proliferation of fungi to restore the natural balance of vaginal flora. It's an ideal solution for women seeking a fast, local and effective treatment for frequent recurrences of mycosis.

Vaginal infections caused by Candida can be endogenous, meaning that the fungi are already present in the body and proliferate under certain conditions, or exogenous, due to external factors such as sexual contamination, swimming pool use or bathing at the beach. However, although these external factors may sometimes be involved, vaginal candidiasis is not considered a sexually transmitted infection. This means that even without sexual contact, a woman can be affected by this infection. This is where Lomexin's effectiveness comes into its own, offering a practical solution for treating the infection locally without unnecessary risks.

The active ingredient, fenticonazole nitrate, is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that actively combats the multiplication of fungi by disrupting their cell walls. Thanks to this targeted action, it guarantees rapid, long-lasting healing. In fact, a single application is usually enough to treat the infection. What sets it apart from other antifungal treatments is its ability to treat not only the fungi responsible, but also any bacterial superinfections that may aggravate the discomfort.

Lomexin is also an effective solution for women prone to recurrence. Candidiasis can recur frequently, and this drug not only treats the current infection, but also prevents relapses thanks to its prolonged action in the vagina. What's more, its simple administration in vaginal capsule form enables precise, uncomplicated application, making it easy to use, even for women who are not used to this type of treatment.

How to use these vaginal capsules

Lomexin 600 mg vaginal capsule is used topically to effectively treat vaginal mycoses. For optimum efficacy, a single 600 mg capsule should be taken at bedtime. The capsule should be inserted deep into the vagina, preferably while lying down. This ensures better diffusion of the drug during the night.

To prevent recurrence, it is essential to follow your doctor's recommendations. In the event of recurrent or resistant mycosis, a second administration may be necessary after three days. However, it is essential to follow your doctor's instructions for a treatment adapted to each individual situation. In some cases, treatment of the partner may be considered, notably to treat the foreskin and glans in the event of concomitant infection.

Precautions for use

The use of Lomexin 600 mg vaginal capsule should be avoided in certain cases. Never use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, especially if you are hypersensitive to imidazoles or ingredients such as soy lecithin. In addition, avoid using this drug in combination with male condoms or latex diaphragms, as this may lead to deterioration of the contraceptive devices.

Acidic soaps should not be used for local hygiene, as they may promote the proliferation of fungi and delay healing. This treatment may cause a slight burning sensation or a temporary increase in itching. If these symptoms persist for more than 24 to 48 hours, consult a doctor immediately.

Lomexin should not be used during pregnancy, unless your doctor advises otherwise. Consult your doctor if you discover that you are pregnant during treatment. It is also not recommended to use this product while breast-feeding, unless strictly medically necessary.

During menstruation, do not stop treatment and avoid wearing tampons.
In case of recurrent gynecological fungi ( candidiasis ), it is useful to respect the usual advice to prevent the abnormal development of candida albicans and other microscopic fungi:
  • limiting the use of antibiotics to conditions requiring their use. Indeed, fungi are destroyed by certain bacteria , themselves killed by antibiotics;
  • fight against moisture, conducive to the development of mushrooms: dry well before putting on his underwear, prefer cotton panties that absorb better perspiration, do not keep his swimsuit after swimming in swimming pool, avoid the harbor clothing too tight;
  • change internal or external protections frequently during menstruation;
  • avoid using acid soaps: they promote the multiplication of fungi.
Your partner may be contaminated with no symptoms . If not treated together, recontamination is possible.
POSSIBLE ADVERSE EFFECTS (summary)
Aggravation of burns and itching at the beginning of treatment: these symptoms reflect the destruction of microscopic fungi that release an irritating substance. These manifestations do not usually recur in subsequent applications. If this is not the case, it may be an intolerance or an allergy to the medication: contact your doctor.

GLOSSARY (summary)

allergy
Skin reaction (itching, pimples, swelling) or general discomfort occurring after contact with a particular substance, use of a medication, or ingestion of food. The main forms of allergy are eczema, urticaria, asthma, angioedema and allergic shock (anaphylactic shock). Food allergy can also result in digestive disorders.

antibiotics
A substance capable of blocking the multiplication of certain bacteria or killing them. The spectrum of an antibiotic is the set of bacteria on which this product is usually active. Unlike bacteria, viruses are not susceptible to antibiotics. The first antibiotics were extracted from mushroom cultures: penicillium (penicillin), streptomyces (streptomycin). They are currently manufactured by chemical synthesis. Antibiotics are divided into families: penicillins, cephalosporins, macrolides, tetracyclines (cyclines), sulphonamides, aminoglycosides, lincosanides, phenicolates, polymyxins, quinolones, imidazoles, etc.
Inappropriate use of antibiotics may lead to the development of resistance: use antibiotics only on medical prescription, adhere to its dosage and duration, do not give or advise another person an antibiotic prescribed for you .

antifungal
Medication that destroys fungi and microscopic yeasts. These can be present on the skin or the mucous membranes (digestive tract or genital organs). The most common yeast is Candida albicans.

bacteria
Microscopic organism that can cause infections. Unlike viruses, bacteria are usually susceptible to antibiotics.

candidiasis
Abnormal multiplication of a microscopic yeast, Candida albicans most often. This is a frequent and benign complication of antibiotic treatments. The main symptoms are digestive disorders, a brown or black color of the tongue, white spots on the palate or tongue (thrush), itching or burning of the vulva or glans.

imidazole
A family of medicines that includes antifungals, antibiotics and antiparasitics.

intolerance
Undesirable effect, most often digestive, when taking a drug. The irritation of the stomach due to aspirin is intolerance and not an allergy.

mycoses
Affection due to microscopic fungi, favored by the taking of antibiotics.

symptom
Trouble felt by a person with an illness. The same symptom can translate different diseases and the same disease does not necessarily give the same symptoms in all the patients.
