What is Pranarom Angelica essential oil used for?

Angelica Officinale Essential Oil (Angelica Archangelica) has antimicrobial and immunostimulant properties. It regulates the intestinal microbiota, the menstrual cycle and the female endocrine system.

This essential oil is used in the following therapeutic indications:

  • Insomnia of nervous origin, depressive syndromes
  • Neuralgia
  • Premenstrual syndrome, dysmenorrhea, spaniomenorrhea

Calming and sedative action on the central nervous system, such as insomnia of nervous origin.

Angelica essential oil has several therapeutic indications. It has a sympatholytic effect on the nervous system, helping to moderate physiological responses such as increased heart rate or blood pressure. It stimulates appetite and digestion, facilitates the elimination of intestinal gas, and helps moderate blood coagulation by inhibiting vitamin K synthesis. It is also effective in the symptomatic treatment of coughs and has an insecticidal action.

Energetic properties

On an energetic level, Angelica essential oil is associated with grounding and stability. It facilitates the process of recovery and adaptation, particularly after prolonged periods of convalescence or surgery. It improves decision-making, specifically in individuals paralyzed by fear or indecision, thus strengthening emotional roots and contributing to the overall stabilization of the individual. How to use Pranarom Angelica Essential Oil (Angelica Archangelica) 5ml

Apply Angelica essential oil diluted at 5% in wheat germ vegetable oil along the spine and on the solar plexus in the evening before bedtime.

Recommended use:

Diffusion: 2 to 3 drops in a diffuser for a relaxing, soothing atmosphere.
Massage (diluted in vegetable oil): 1 to 2 drops on the abdomen to improve digestion or on the wrists to calm anxiety.
Inhalation: 1 drop on a handkerchief for a rapid anti-stress action.
Internal use (only on medical advice): 1 drop in a spoonful of honey to aid digestion.

Precautions for use:

Do not use undiluted on the skin; always dilute in a vegetable oil.
Not recommended for pregnant or breast-feeding women.
Do not expose skin to sunlight after application (risk of photosensitization).

Possible side effects and precautions for use Angelica Essential Oil (Angelica Archangelica)

  • Contraindicated for people with kidney problems.
  • Not recommended for people on anticoagulant, antiplatelet or aspirin medication.
  • Avoid for people with hemophilia.
  • Photosensitization due to the presence of coumarins, so avoid sun exposure for 12 hours after cutaneous application.
  • For cutaneous application, a maximum dilution of 0.8% is recommended (i.e. 8 drops for 50 ml of vegetable oil).
  • Not recommended for pregnant women or diabetics, and not necessary for haemophiliacs.
  • Consult a health professional before prolonged use.
  • Risk of oxidation in presence of delta-3-carene and alpha-pinene; recommended storage in refrigerator after opening.
  • Precautions for large quantities: keep away from children, pregnant or breast-feeding women, epileptics and allergy sufferers.
  • Do not get in eyes.
  • A significant dilution in a vegetable oil is required for any cutaneous application.

  • Sesquiterpenes (beta-bisabolene, bisabolol, beta-caryophyllene)
  • Ambrettolure 0.3% and pentadecanolure 0.2% give a musky scent
  • Macrocyclic lactones
  • 1.8 cineole 14.5% (inconstant)
  • Simple coumarins and over 20 furanocoumarins (bergapten, isoimperatorin, xanthotoxin, angelicin, archangelicin)
