Audevard Lactofoal oral powder 2.2kg is a complete milk replacer specially formulated for foals, replacing or supplementing mother's milk. LACTOFOAL cans contain a teat specially adapted to foals and easily adaptable to a bottle.

What is Lactofoal used for?

When it comes to caring for an orphan foal, or supplementing breastfeeding in the event of a mare's lactation failure, Lactofoal is an essential ally. Designed by Laboratoires Audevard, Lactofoal offers a complete nutritional solution that precisely mimics the characteristics of mare's milk. It plays a crucial role in ensuring the foal's harmonious growth and optimal development, especially in the early stages of its life.

As a substitute for mother's milk, Lactofoal is perfectly adapted to the specific needs of foals. Its composition, rich in proteins and fats specific to the equine species, guarantees optimal nutrition. The formula also contains probiotics and prebiotics, essential for healthy digestion and boosting the foal's immune system. These elements play a key role in protecting the foal from common digestive disorders and ensuring healthy intestinal development.

As a milk replacer, Lactofoal is particularly useful when the mare's lactation is insufficient. It provides the nutrients needed to compensate for deficiencies and support the foal's daily needs. What's more, this formula can be used in the post-weaning period, when the foal begins to switch to a dry diet. This transition is often delicate, and Lactofoal helps to make it smoother, ensuring a continuous and balanced nutritional supply.

Lactofoal 's powder form is designed to dissolve quickly and completely in water, making it easy to prepare and administer. Each can is supplied with a teat that can be fitted to a conventional bottle, making it much easier for the breeder to use. This attention to detail makes Lactofoal a practical and effective product, perfectly suited to the needs of breeders concerned with the health and well-being of their foals.

The Audevard veterinary laboratory also offers the Myostem Mass supplement, at the best price in our online pharmacy.

How to use this product?

As foaling season approaches, it's a good idea to always have a tin of Lactofoal on hand. This formula can be incorporated into the foal's daily diet for the first two months of weaning. We recommend starting with 500 g per day, then gradually reducing this quantity. To prepare Lactofoal, dilute two measures of powder in one liter of lukewarm water. Shake well to obtain a homogeneous mixture. The milk should be administered to the foal at a temperature of around 35°C. Reconstituted milk can be stored in the refrigerator for 24 hours.

Daily intakes vary according to the foal's age:

  • Day 1: 8 liters of milk per day (1 liter every 3 hours).
  • Day 10: 12 liters of milk per day (2 liters every 4 hours).
  • 1 month: 15 liters of milk per day (3 liters every 5 hours).

Between the third and fourth months, the transition to dry feed should be made gradually, until the foal is fully weaned. To supplement the post-weaning diet, add 10 scoops of Lactofoal per day to the feed ration, gradually decreasing the quantities over time.
