Apilifevar® is composed of 4 active ingredients: Thymol, Eucalyptus essential oil, Menthol and Camphor, absorbed by an inert carrier, vermiculite. Apilifevar® is a natural solution for the treatment of Varroa in bees (Varroa Destructor) and against Tracheal Mites (Acaparis Woodi Ren).

What is Apilife Var® used for?

Apilife Var® is an effective, natural treatment against two major bee parasites: Varroa destructor and the tracheal mite (Acaparis Woodi Ren). Designed to protect hives and ensure colony health, this product combines four natural active ingredients -thymol, eucalyptus essential oil, menthol and camphor-that work synergistically to eliminate parasites. Apilife Var® not only kills mites through contact, it also acts by inhalation of the essential oils' vapors, saturating the hive environment and causing the parasite to fall from the bee's body.

One of Apilife Var®'s strengths lies in its ability to avoid addiction. Unlike synthetic chemical treatments, which often become less and less effective as parasites develop resistance, Apilife Var® has no resistance. This makes it a long-lasting solution for beekeepers seeking to protect their colonies safely and responsibly.

What's more, the components of Apilife Var® are totally safe for bees, consumers and hive products, including honey. The substances used are listed in Annex II of EEC Regulation No. 2377/90, which means they leave no harmful residues in foodstuffs of animal origin. This safe treatment enables beekeepers to guarantee clean, healthy honey production, with no risk to consumers.

The zero waiting period after using Apilife Var® is another important advantage for beekeepers. Unlike some chemical treatments, which require a waiting period before honey can be harvested, Apilife Var® enables hives to be treated in complete safety, without compromising the quality or safety of the harvested honey.

Finally, Apilife Var® is authorized for use in organic beekeeping, in accordance with European Directive Reg. 2092/91/EEC of June 24, 1991. Its use is therefore compatible with organic beekeeping practices, offering an ecological and responsible solution to varroasis, a worldwide problem that threatens bee health and beekeeping production.

In short, Apilife Var® is an essential treatment for beekeepers concerned about the health of their bees. This product combines effectiveness, safety and respect for the environment, making it an essential ally in the fight against hive parasites. Order now to protect your colonies and guarantee healthy, high-quality honey production.

How to use Apilife

Using Apilife Var® is simple and effective. The optimum time to treat your hives depends on climatic conditions, but it is generally advisable to apply it in late summer, just after the honey harvest. The ideal temperature range is between 18°C and 28°C, although the product remains effective between 15°C and 30°C. For a complete treatment, you need to use one sachet per hive every week for four weeks, which requires about one and a half sachets per hive.

Here's how to use Apilife Var® :

  • Open the sachet containing the two tablets.
  • Divide one tablet into three or four pieces.
  • Open the hive and place the pieces around the edge of the brood nest, on top of the frames.
  • Close the hive and leave the product to act for 7 to 8 days. Repeat this operation three or four times with the other tablets.

For colder regions, we recommend placing two tablets at the same time, then replacing them after 14 to 15 days for best results.

Precautions for use

  • Treat the whole apiary at the same time to avoid reinfestation.
  • Use strong colonies to reduce the risk of robbing, and do not start treatment if robbing is underway.
  • It's best to start early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
  • If the temperature exceeds 30°C at the start of treatment, accustom the bees to the scent by placing a piece of tablet in the hive the day before.
  • Use Apilife Var® only when the hive is free of beehives.
  • Never exceed the prescribed dose.
  • Do not use simultaneously with other acaricides.
