What is scabies, a contagious parasite?
Human scabies is a contagious disease transmitted by direct human contact. Contrary to popular belief, scabies affects all age groups, all populations and all socio-economic backgrounds. An estimated 300 million people worldwide are affected. Human scabies, or sarcoptic mange, is caused by contamination of the skin by a small parasite called Sarcoptes scabiei hominis. Human scabies is a contagious disease that is generally transmitted through direct, intimate and prolonged human contact, such as that which occurs within a couple or a family. It is caused by a parasite that penetrates the superficial layer of the skin.

How to use this anti-parasite?
A-Par Aérosol Désinfectant antiparasitaire by Omega Pharma is a pyrethroid-based antiparasitic disinfectant for stain-free disinfection of clothing and bedding in the following cases:
- Infestation by a human ectoparasite: scabies mite , head louse, body louse, pubic louse (crabs),
- Infestation by an occasional human parasite: flea, bedbug.
Here are a few tips to ensure perfect disinfection of textile items likely to have come into contact with the parasite:
Wash all body linens, towels, sheets, pillowcases and other high-temperature clothing at high temperatures (above 55°C) for 3 or 4 days before the parasite infestation is detected.
You can also use Eco-logis Spray from the Biocanina laboratory, an anti-parasite which acts on the larvae and eggs responsible for reinfestation, as well as a large number of insects (fleas, ticks, cockroaches, mites, spiders, ants, moths...).
How to use A-par antiparasitaire
Spray the A-PAR bottle, away from any flame, over the entire surface of textile items that cannot be washed at over 55°C, holding the bottle 30 to 40 cm from the items to be disinfected.
It is preferable to disinfect right-side-up and inside-out clothing at the same time (paying particular attention to seams and armholes), as well as bedding (mattresses, blankets, pillows, bolsters) for people living in the same household.
There's no need to dry-clean clothing after disinfection.
Textile items disinfected with A-PAR can be reused within hours of
after spraying:
1. Treated garments can be used 2 hours after disinfection against scabies, head lice, body lice, pubic lice , fleas or bedbugs;
2. Treated bedding can be used 12 hours after application.
Precautions for use
- Open windows in treated rooms to avoid respiratory discomfort.
- Spraying should not be carried out by or in the presence of asthmatics.
- As A-PAR destroys cold-blooded animals, do not spray near aquariums.
- Bedding must not be used within 12 hours of spraying for scabies, head lice, body lice, pubic lice , fleas or bedbugs.
- A-PAR is non-toxic under normal conditions of use. However, to avoid respiratory discomfort, open windows in rooms where spraying is carried out.
- In the event of accidental eye contact, wash thoroughly with clean water.
- Before use on textiles, test on a few square centimetres of fabric to check that A-PAR leaves the textile intact.
- Do not spray on flames or glowing objects.
- Do not apply to skin or mucous membranes.
