Phytostandard Desmodium Pileje vegetarian capsules Pileje, from desmodium extracts, naturally contributes to liver comfort. Phytostandards Pileje are food supplements made from a range of standardized, freeze-dried, certified organic plant extracts.
The Desmodium(Desmodium adscendens) used by Pileje is grown organically, with respect for the environment. Desmodium leaves are frozen after harvesting to preserve their active ingredients. The active ingredients are then ground and extracted using the patented Phytostandard® process, recognized for its respect for the integrity of the plant's active and useful principles. The resulting plant extract is alcohol-free. It is then freeze-dried, i.e. dehydrated cold, to be filled into vegetarian capsules.
Desmodium is recognized for its powerful hepatoprotective effect, mainly due to its high content of triterpenoid saponosides. In vitro studies have shown that certain compounds present in Desmodium, such as soyasaponins I and III, dehydrosoyasagenin I and soyasapogenol E, offer significant protection to liver cells against damage caused by hepatotoxic substances such as carbon tetrachloride. These promising results were corroborated by in vivo studies, where administration of a desmodium decoction normalized liver transaminase levels and preserved liver integrity in the face of external aggression.
In addition, a clinical study of patients suffering from viral hepatitis B demonstrated the efficacy of desmodium in treating the symptoms associated with this pathology. After 45 days' treatment with desmodium, there was a significant improvement in myalgias, jaundice and liver transaminase levels. In some cases, Hbs antigen negativation was even observed, underlining the beneficial effect of desmodium in the management of viral hepatitis B.
Desmodium also boasts powerful antioxidant properties that help protect liver and kidney cells against oxidative stress. Studies have shown that desmodium extracts are able to effectively neutralize free radicals and prevent cellular damage induced by reactive oxygen species. This antioxidant action helps protect cells against premature ageing processes and metabolic imbalances, offering overall protection against various diseases linked to oxidative stress.
Desmodium has a wide range of beneficial pharmacological properties, including anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-asthmatic and antispasmodic effects. Desmodium also exerts an influence on the central nervous system, notably by inhibiting monoamine oxidase activity. This action results in dose-dependent analgesia, reduced motor activity and inhibition of convulsive seizures. Although effects similar to those of antipsychotics have been observed, it should be noted that motor side effects can occur at high doses. In conclusion, desmodium has a wide range of therapeutic properties, making it a versatile natural remedy for liver health, the immune system and general well-being.
