White linden is a tree that grows in temperate regions of Europe, Asia and North America. It is very common in the French countryside, where it is used for its medicinal virtues.
White lime sapwood is a plant rich in flavonoids, tannins and mucilages. These active substances give it multiple properties:
- Diuretic: white linden sapwood is an excellent diuretic. It encourages the elimination of toxins and waste from the body, notably through the kidneys. This stimulates the urinary system and combats water retention.
- Anti-inflammatory: thanks to its flavonoid content, white lime sapwood has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps relieve joint and muscle pain, skin inflammation, minor burns and throat irritations.
- Anti-oxidant: white lime sapwood is rich in antioxidants. These substances help combat cellular aging and prevent certain chronic diseases, such as cancer.
- Depurative: white lime sapwood is an excellent depurative. It cleanses the liver and regenerates liver cells. It can also be used in cases of excess cholesterol or triglycerides. On the one hand, it facilitates the digestive and renal elimination functions, enabling better drainage of toxins, and on the other, it dissolves uric acid.
- Choleretic (increases secretion and elimination of bile by the liver) and cholagogue (facilitates evacuation of bile from extra-hepatic bile ducts - especially the gallbladder - to the intestine)
- antispasmodic (notably relieves spasm of the sphincter of Oddi)
- coronary-dilator and mild hypotensive
Linden sapwood helps eliminate organic toxins and disruptive metabolic acids. Its hepato-tonic action enables better filtration of toxins present in the blood and their elimination in the intestine by bile, whose volume and diffusion are increased.
Considered by Professor Jean Valnet to be a specific uric acid dissolver and a remarkable diuretic, linden sapwood is also a natural antispasmodic, helping to dissipate migraines. It is also effective againsthypertension.
Finally, phytotherapists use it in cases of acute rheumatism, particularly gouty attacks, and it is also an ingredient in certain weight-loss diets.
