What is Biogemm's Warty Birch bud macerate used for?
Two species of birch are used in gemmotherapy: Warty Birch and Pubescent Birch.
- Warty Birch is the most common of the birches. It can be recognized by its hairless, warty twigs and clearly triangular, double-toothed leaves.
- The downy birch differs from its fellow birch in that its leaves are more diamond-shaped and simply toothed.
Birch sap is harvested in spring, when it is most abundant. It gradually migrates to the dormant twigs, gradually swelling the birch buds. It's no coincidence that birch sap is mainly produced in spring. We've just come out of winter, and our bodies need a good drainage to get rid of accumulated waste: it's the famous spring cleaning.
