Your expert pharmacist's advice on dry eyes
How to relieve dry eyes
Symptomatic treatment of dry eyes involves moistening the eye by instilling artificial tears in the form of eye drops. Lubricating and moistening gels can also be applied several times a day, depending on the degree of discomfort.
Treatment of dry eyes varies according to the cause. The use of eye drops or tear-supplement gels, known as artificial tears, can be beneficial. They should be used several times a day, as needed. They contain substances that act as thickeners. Their viscosity, which varies from product to product, determines the doctor's choice. With the most viscous products, a visual blurring effect may be felt immediately after administration, which disappears within a few minutes. Please refer to the precautions for use with ophthalmic gel.
