Ordergifrer kerosene oil 250ml laxative drinkable solution used as a symptomatic treatment for constipation.

GIFRER Paraffin Oil Laxative Drinkable Solution 250ML

Kerosene oil is an oral laxative. Cooper kerosene oil is recommended for occasional constipation.

How does kerosene oil work to treat constipation?
Unlike other edible oils, kerosene oil does not pass through the digestive mucosa. When ingested, it lines the mucous membrane of the colon and rectum, then acts as a lubricant to facilitate stool elimination. It also softens fecal matter, making it easier to pass. Its mode of action is mechanical, makingstool elimination less painful in cases of anal fissure, for example.

Description of GIFRER Paraffin Oil

GIFRER Paraffin Oil is recommended for the symptomatic treatment of constipation.

GIFRER Paraffin Oil Laxative Drinkable Solution 250ML: Directions for use and advice

  • Adults: 15 to 45 ml orally, i.e. 1 to 3 tablespoons a day.
  • For children over 6: orally: 10 to 15 ml, i.e. 2 to 3 teaspoons a day.

Preferably taken between meals. If taken in the evening, it is advisable not to go to bed within 2 hours of taking it (see "Warnings and Precautions for Use"), and to take into account the time it takes to take effect (6-8 hours).

Composition of Paraffin Oil

Liquid kerosene 100.00 ml for 100 ml drinking solution.

Precautions for use with GIFRER Paraffin Oil 250ML

Special warnings

Prolonged use of laxatives is not recommended. Medicinal treatment of constipation is only an adjuvant to hygienic and dietetic treatment: diet enriched with vegetable fibers and beverages; advice on physical activity and exoneration rehabilitation.

In children, laxatives should only be used in exceptional cases, taking into account the risk of impairing the normal functioning of the exoneration reflex.

Precautions for use

Prolonged use of kerosene oil may reduce absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K). Caution should be exercised when administering kerosene oil to young children, debilitated or recumbent patients, or those with swallowing difficulties, due to the risk of bronchial inhalation and lipoid pneumopathy.

gastroesophageal reflux
Raising the gastric juice in the esophagus and in the back of the throat, favored by the extended position after meals, by leaning forward, by wearing clothes that compress the abdomen. This reflux is sometimes due to a hiatal hernia.

symptomatic treatment
Treatment that suppresses or alleviates the symptoms of a disease without addressing its cause.

vitamins
An essential ingredient for the growth and proper functioning of the body. Vitamin requirements are normally covered by a varied diet. Superior intake, especially with medicines, can lead to overdose and various disorders (mainly vitamins A and D).
