Description of MERCRYL SOLUTION ANTISEPTIQUE FLACON 125ML

Mercryl antiseptic solution is a member of the antiseptic family. Mercryl is used forantisepsis and cleansing of small superficialwounds.

Directions for use and advice on MERCRYL SOLUTION ANTISEPTIQUE FLACON 125ML

For cutaneous use.
Use Mercryl solution 1 or 2 times a day, for 7 to 10 days.
Application should last at least one minute, to allow the drug to take effect.

On the skin, apply Mercryl directly to the wound using a sterile compress.
On mucous membranes (genitals), dilute Mercryl with water: in a clean container, pour 1 volume of solution, and add 9 volumes of water (e.g. 1 tablespoon of solution and 9 tablespoons of water). Then apply the diluted solution to the wound.

Please note that the diluted solution must be prepared just before use and must not be stored.

Composition of MERCRYL SOLUTION ANTISEPTIQUE FLACON 125ML

Benzalkonium chloride 0.50 g (as benzalkonium chloride 0.985 g), chlorhexidine digluconate 0.20 g (as chlorhexidine digluconate 1.065 g). Excipients: citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate, purified water.

Employment Precautions; special warnings

Warnings and Precautions for Use

When used on a large surface, under occlusive dressing (impermeable to water and air), on a deeply burned skin, a skin of pre-mature or infant , there are risks of passage through the general circulation.

Use with caution in newborn babies, especially premature babies. MERCRYL, solution for skin application , can cause chemical burns.

Use cleanly and do not keep a vial for a long time because microbial contamination is possible as soon as you open it

Interactions with other medicines

AT· MERCRYL, a skin application solution should not be used in conjunction with other antiseptics because together they may irritate your skin or be less effective.

3. HOW TO USE MERCRYL, solution for skin application?

Dosage / Administration

MERCRYL, solution for skin application is used 1 or 2 times a day, for 7 to 10 days.

The application should last at least one minute, to let the medication work.

On the skin: Apply MERCRYL, solution for skin application directly on the wound with a sterile compress.

On the mucous membranes: dilute MERCRYL, solution for application with water: in a clean container, pour 1 volume of solution, and add 9 volumes of water (for example 1 spoon ¨re soup of solution and 9 tablespoons of water).

Then apply the diluted solution to the wound.

Caution: the diluted solution should be prepared just before use and should not be retained.

AT· Possibility of contact eczema (redness and de-eating) due to the presence of benzalkonium chloride.

CONTRAINDICATIONS Â ^(summary)

This medication should not be used in the following cases:

allergy to quaternary ammoniums ,
in application in the eyes or in the ear canal (risk of toxicity in case of perforation of the eardrum),
for the disinfection of medico-surgical equipment (see Caution).

CAUTION Â ^(Contents)

Avoid prolonged use of this medication, especially in children, mucous membranes and on large or deeply injured surfaces, without the advice of your doctor: the risk of the medication passing through the blood.
This antiseptic is not suitable for the disinfection of scissors, razors and other potentially contaminating objects. Also, it should not be used to disinfect the skin before a sting.

DRUG INTERACTIONS Â ^(summary)

Combination with other antiseptics or soaps is discouraged because their effects may be canceled out.

PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING ^(summary)

The timely use of this medication during pregnancy or lactation does not appear to be a particular problem.

Breastfeeding:
This antiseptic should not be applied to the nipple without medical advice. A careful rinsing before the head is essential.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE AND DOSAGE ^(summary)

The solution is used pure on the skin and diluted 1/10 e (mix 1 volume of solution with 9 volumes of water) on the mucous membranes .
The diluted solution should not be retained.

Usual dosage:

1 or 2 applications per day.

TIPS ^(summary)

This medication can be freely available in some pharmacies; nevertheless, do not hesitate to ask your pharmacist for advice.
Simple washing with soap and water makes it possible to eliminate the majority of germs ; it must be followed by a careful rinsing as the soap can inactivate some antiseptics .
All antiseptics may be contaminated with germs : do not store them unnecessarily.
