What is Podalux™ II used for?
Podalux™ II is specially designed to accompany the rehabilitation phase of your forefoot after surgery, particularly following hallux valgus surgery. This clever shoe maintains and protects your joint and periarticular structures, while taking into account the delicacy of the operated area. It plays an essential role in supporting the foot and preventing inappropriate movement during healing. Think of it as a faithful ally, helping you to gradually regain the fluidity of your stride.
After hallux valgus surgery or treatment for Morton's syndrome, you're often left with a sensitive, vulnerable forefoot. That's where Podalux™ II comes in: it offers enhanced protection against impact and friction, while conforming to the shape of the foot. Thanks to its evolutionary design, it adapts to any fluctuations in volume (oedemas, bulky dressings) to provide optimum comfort on the move. Like a cocoon, it can be adjusted effortlessly.
The adjustable rigidity of the sole makes all the difference. Featuring two distinct levels, it can be adjusted according to the requirements of the post-operative protocol. The removable shank guarantees increased rigidity in the early phases of rehabilitation, then can be removed to restore a softer gait as healing progresses. It's a bit like adjusting the hardness of a mattress: you adapt the shoe to your comfort and the progress of your recovery.
By using the rigid version of the cambrion, you effectively limit flexion of the metatarsal joints while increasing the stability of your support. As the days go by and your forefoot regains some tolerance, you can opt for a more natural stride pattern. This transition, made possible by the removal of the shank, proves crucial in avoiding sudden demands. In this way, Podalux™ II facilitates consistent, progressive rehabilitation, accompanying each step step by step.
Whether recovering from a foot injury, relieving joint pain or improving your gait, the Donjoy Podalux II Shoe offers the support you need to regain your mobility and well-being.
Its ergonomic shape and light weight allow you to move around with an appreciable sense of freedom. Even if you're wearing a bulky dressing or suffer from forefoot swelling, the shoe opens wide for quick, pain-free donning. The two wide hook-and-loop fastening straps ensure a reliable fit, while the included toe sock provides extra protection for the weakened area. This configuration gives you the serenity of knowing your foot stays where it belongs, without the risk of further irritation.
In short, Podalux™ II is as much for patients in the post-operative phase of Morton's syndrome as for those who struggle to find a shoe when the forefoot is swollen or injured. The watchword: stability, comfort and gradual adaptation. Thanks to its bilateral design, it can be worn equally well on the left or right, and in no fewer than six different sizes. So you're sure to find the option that best suits your situation, while benefiting from a robust, latex-free device.
This post-operative shoe is a real support in your daily life. It promotes healing, reduces discomfort and supports a gradual return to walking, while preserving the overall balance of your foot. Whether you're talking about hallux valgus, joint protection or simple footwear difficulties, Podalux™ II offers you a world of comfort and safety. Thanks to its adaptability and well-thought-out design, you benefit from a practical, reassuring solution that's beneficial to your mobility.
How do I use Podalux™ II?
To install Podalux™ II correctly, first open the two hook-and-loop fasteners, then gently slide your foot inside. If your doctor has recommended that you preserve significant rigidity, leave the removable shank integrated into the sole in place. On the other hand, if your rehabilitation allows for a little more flexibility, you can remove this shank:
Remove the insole.
Remove the shank.
Replace the insole.
Once your foot is properly positioned, close the straps, starting with the strap closest to your toes, then adjust the second strap so that the shoe fits snugly over your forefoot.
