Organic Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) H.E.B.B.D. Pranarom

What is Pranarom Tea tree essential oil used for?

Organic Tea tree essential oil has major anti-infectious, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-parasitic properties. It is also anti-inflammatory and immunostimulant, as well as anti-psoriatic through its anti-inflammatory activity thanks to the terpinene-4-ol molecule. It is an anti-asthenic, tonicardiac, phlebotonic and venous decongestant essential oil. It is also neurotonic and analgesic. It is active on various dermatological conditions, such as skin and mucous membranes, acne vulgaris, seborrheic dermatitis and chronic gingivitis. It accelerates healing, eliminating pathogenic skin flora while maintaining resident flora.

The tea tree is an Australian tree with thorny foliage that originally grew in swampy areas and is now cultivated on a large scale for essential oil production. During the Second World War, the Australian army health authorities distributed bottles of tea tree essential oil to their soldiers for use in the event of skin problems.

Traditionally reputed for its :

  • powerful, broad-spectrum antibacterial action
  • fungicide - parasiticide

Tea-tree is an essential oil with an established reputation. It is used in a large number of personal care products (soap, shampoo, bath oil) and cosmetics. Apart from these applications, it is rightly considered to be a safe bet in medical and family aromatherapy. Today, enormous demand has led to the establishment of plantations covering thousands of hectares in Australia.

The Pranarôm laboratory has carried out several studies demonstrating the proven action of tea tree essential oil on certain viruses:

  • Tea tree essential oil inhibits replication of influenza A⁄PR ⁄ 8 virus subtype H1N1(influenza virus) at 0.0006% (v ⁄ v)1.
  • It is active against HSV-1 and HSV-2(herpes viruses) at 0.0008% (v/v)2.
  • Tea tree essential oil is also active against the avian flu virus H5N1 and subtypes H7N3 and H9N2 at a dose of 10 μl4.
  • In aerosol form, tea tree oil acts as a disinfectant against influenza A virus and E. coli phage M13. Coli phage. It is capable of inactivating over 95% of viruses within 5 to 15 minutes of exposure.
