What is Advantix for Large Dogs over 25 kg?
Advantix for Large Dogs is an anti-parasite treatment that prevents and treats flea, tick, mosquito and sandfly infestations.
Fleas are killed within 24 hours of treatment. A single treatment prevents flea reinfestation for 4 weeks. The drug can be integrated into a therapeutic program for Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD).
In cases of high parasite pressure, we recommend the use of an appropriate environmental treatment against adult fleas and their developmental stages. The treatment remains effective if the animal is wet. However, avoid intense and prolonged exposure to water. Repeated exposure to water may reduce the duration of efficacy. In this case, a minimum interval of one week should be observed between two applications. If the dog requires shampooing, this should be done before applying the medication, or at least two weeks after application, to optimize efficacy.
We also offer Advantix flea pipettes for small dogs from the Elanco veterinary laboratory, at the best price in our online pharmacy.
How to use Advantix for your large dog?
Apply 1 pipette a month directly to the skin of the neck between the shoulder blades, taking care to spread the hair. To reduce reinfestation through the emergence of new fleas, we recommend treating all dogs in the household. Other pets living in the same household should also be treated with an appropriate product.
Method of administration
For cutaneous application only; on healthy skin only.
Remove a pipette from the packaging. Hold pipette upright, rotate and remove cap. Place cap upside down on pipette and rotate to puncture pipette, then remove cap.
For dogs over 10 kg body weight: with the dog in an upright position, apply the entire contents of the pipette evenly at four points on the animal's back, from the shoulders to the base of the tail.
At each application point, spread your large dog's hair until the animal's skin is visible.
Place the tip of the pipette on the skin, and press gently to deposit some of the solution on the skin. Do not apply too much solution at any one point, as it may run down the dog's sides.
Overdose (symptoms, emergency treatment, antidotes):
Application of doses equivalent to 5 times the therapeutic dose in healthy puppies or adult dogs has not produced any adverse clinical signs.
The same applies to puppies whose mothers received 3 times the therapeutic dose.
The product has acaricidal repellent efficacy, persisting for 4 weeks (Rhipicaphalus Sanguineus, Ixodes Ricinus) and 3 weeks (Derlacentor Reticulatis). Ticks already present on the dog at the time of treatment may not be killed during the 2 days following treatment, and may remain attached and visible. It is therefore advisable to remove any ticks present at the time of treatment, to prevent them attaching to the dog and taking a blood meal.
A single treatment repels sandflies for 2 to 3 weeks, mosquitoes for 2 to 4 weeks, and stable flies for 4 weeks.
Precautions for use
Avoid contact of the solution with the eyes or mouth of treated dogs.
Take care to administer the product correctly, as described under "Dosage and route of administration".
In particular, take care to prevent ingestion of the product by licking the application site by treated animals or animals in contact with them.
Not for use in cats.
Advantix Grand Chien Bayer is extremely hazardous in cats, and may be lethal, given the particular physiology of cats and their inability to metabolize certain compounds such as permethrin. To avoid accidental exposure of cats to the product, keep treated dogs away from cats until the application site is completely dry. It is important that cats do not lick the application site of a recently treated dog. If this happens, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Consult your veterinarian before using this product on sick or weakened dogs.
Do not allow dogs to come into contact with the aquatic environment for at least 48 hours after application, as the product may be harmful to aquatic organisms.
