Bayer Seresto pest control collar for large dogs is used for the treatment and prevention of flea(Ctenocephalides felis) and chewing lice(Trichodectes canis) infestations for 7 to 8 months.

This product has an acaricidal (lethal) action(Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor reticulatus) and a repellent action (preventing parasites from feeding) against tick infestations(Ixodes ricinus, Ripicephalus sanguineus) for 8 months. It is effective against larvae, nymphs and adult ticks.

We also offer the Tiquanis habitat diffuser from the Vétoquinol veterinary laboratory, at the best price in our online pharmacy.

How to use this collar

Effectiveness against fleas begins as soon as the collar is applied.

The active ingredient in the Seresto collar protects the animal's immediate environment against the development of flea larvae for 8 months.
The medication can be integrated into a therapeutic program for flea-bite allergic dermatitis (FAD).

Ideally, Seresto should be applied before the start of the flea and tick season.

Ticks already present on the dog before treatment may not be killed within 48 hours of the collar application, and may remain attached and visible. It is therefore advisable to remove any ticks already on the dog at the time of application. Prevention of new tick infestations begins within two days of applying the collar.

Fleas and ticks, these tiny insects measuring just a few millimetres, can make life hell for our pets. Once they've had their fill, fleas return to live in their environment and join their congeners in cushions, carpets, dog kennels... Parasites can transmit various diseases to the dogs and cats they infest: flea saliva itself can cause allergic dermatological reactions in dogs, cats and even humans.
So it's just as important to treat the environment against fleas as it is to treat the animal itself.

Wash your pet's blanket every week and look after its immediate environment. For bedding, don't use wicker baskets or thick cloth diapers, which can't be washed easily. Like carpets and rugs, they are perfect breeding grounds for parasites, which reproduce not on the dog but on the floor.

Precautions for use

  • Do not treat puppies under 7 weeks of age.
  • Do not use in the event of known hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or any of the excipients.
  • Specific warnings for each target species:

Ticks will be killed and detached from the host 24 to 48 hours after infestation, as a rule without having taken a blood meal. It is still possible for a tick to attach itself after treatment. Consequently, the transmission of infectious diseases by ticks cannot be totally ruled out in unfavorable conditions.

As with all long-lasting topical flea and tick control products for dogs, seasonal periods of heavy hair loss may cause a slight transient reduction in theeffectiveness of the treatment, due to the loss of some of the active ingredients attached to the hair. The release of active ingredients from the collar resumes immediately, so that full efficacy is restored without further treatment or replacement of the Seresto collar.
