Who should use Urgo Brûlures Pansements Waterproof?
A burn is a tissue lesion often caused by contact with a heat source over a period of time. Burns come in different degrees of severity: 1st degree (sunburn-type, with a bright red, painful lesion) and 2nd degree superficial (blistering).
URGO Brûlures Waterproof dressing is designed to treat 1st degree and 2nd degree superficial burns (blistering), as well as superficial wounds (abrasions, cuts).
Its backing is entirely WATERPROOF.

How to use these dressings for burns?
In the case of a burn: immediately place the burn under cold (but not icy) water and keep it there for 15 minutes to limit the spread of the burn. In the case of a blister, do not pierce it.
In all cases:
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Clean the wound with water or saline solution. Disinfect the wound and its perimeter with an alcohol-free antiseptic solution; in the case of a burn, never use colored antiseptics such as eosin. Rinse with water or physiological serum.
- Dry the lesion and surrounding area with a sterile compress. Compress to stop any bleeding.
- Open the pouch and remove the dressing. The dressing must be used as soon as the sachet is opened.
- When applying the dressing, take care not to touch the adhesive part with your fingers, and make sure to center the compress (white part) on the lesion:
- Remove the 1st protective flap; apply while smoothing the dressing towards the edges: to avoid creating folds and tensions on the skin and on the dressing.
- Remove the 2nd flap in the same way.
Change frequency:
Repeat application, according to these instructions, after 24 h and then every 48 h until healing. Renew also :
- If the compress feels damp after a shower
- If the compress is saturated with blood or exudates.
Remove dressing:
- Gently remove the dressing.
- If any gel remains on the wound after removal, rinse with water.
Instructions for use
Store away from light.
- Reserved for the treatment of superficial localized wounds whose size does not exceed that of a compress. On burns, the compress must extend well beyond the burn to allow exudates to be absorbed (the size of the compress, the white part of the dressing, must be at least twice the size of the burn).
- In the event of foreign bodies in the wound, heavy bleeding, biting, pricking with a sharp and/or soiled object, or if no improvement in healing is noted after 6 days, consult your pharmacist or doctor.
- For burns in children, ask your pharmacist or doctor for advice.
- In the presence of clinical signs of local infection (heat, redness extending to uninjured skin, pain, purulent secretion, swelling, etc.), consult your pharmacist or doctor.
- For aesthetic reasons, ask your pharmacist or doctor for advice before applying the dressing to the face.
- Diabetics should only use hydrocolloid dressings under medical or nursing supervision.

Our advice and opinions from pharmacy experts
What's the first thing to do in the event of a burn?
Cool the burn with cold water: First and foremost, it's important to cool the burn with cold water. The earlier you do this, the more effective it is. It reduces local heat and prevents inflammation from spreading. A golden rule is the "three 15s": rinse the burn at 15°C, 15 centimetres away and for around 15 minutes.
When a blister appears, it's important to respect it as much as possible and avoid puncturing it. A blister is a bulwark against infection. If a blister does break, however, it must be disinfected. It is also advisable toapply a sterile lipid-colloiddressing or tulle such as URGO Burns and Superficial Wounds to the area to be treated.
