What is Equistro Megabase Junior Vetoquinol Liquid used for?
Specific vitaminized mineral supplement for foals before weaning, for harmonious skeletal development.
Although the genetic potential of horses is decided in advance, the nutrition, management and care of foals play a significant role in their development and the expression of their full potential. Growth is defined as the increase in live weight with age and measurements over time. This is referred to as "GMQ" in kg/d (Average Daily Gain in kilograms per day). Development represents the morphological and chemical transformations of the different tissues and regions of the body, enabling the foal to gradually attain the characteristics of the adult state.
A foal's nutrition begins in its mother's uterus and changes considerably throughout its growth. For this reason, it is essential to adjust the brood mare's diet during gestation and to adapt the foal's feeding program throughout its growth.
The mother's diet is important during the 2nd half of gestation. A deficiency in quality protein leads to poorer brain development, lower birth weight and inadequate hormonal and enzymatic equipment. However, over-fattening should be avoided. Complementary foal feeding is important because milk production drops and the foal makes very poor use of grass. It is essential to provide the foal with a highly digestible concentrated feed.
Equistro Megabase Junior Vetoquinol Liquid is specifically formulated to meet the needs of foals before weaning, providing easily-assimilable minerals, trace elements and vitamins of high biological quality. Administered in liquid form, it guarantees the basic supply of nutrients essential for harmonious skeletal development. This supplement can also be given to the mare before foaling, when the udder has swollen, to increase the foetus' reserves of certain nutrients and improve milk quality.
