Description of Transilane

This medication is a ballast laxative . It contains a natural substance ( psyllium ) which is neither digested nor absorbed. It soaks up water and makes the stools larger and less firm.
It is used in the symptomatic treatment of constipation.

Psyllium: composition and mode of action
The benefits of this plant come from the seed coat, consisting of:

  • 30% mucilage, substances that take on a gelatinous consistency on contact with water and protect the stomach;
  • fibers, which facilitate intestinal transit.

The mucilaginous substances that psyllium contains allow it to retain and absorb water very well:

  • This makes it a very useful remedy for constipation, since it retains water from digested food and thus softens the stool.
  • In addition, in case of diarrhea, it turns the water in the stool into gel, making them more consistent.
