What is Yersin serum?
Yersin serum is an immunological treatment developed by Dr. Alexandre Yersin, the famous Franco-Swiss physician and bacteriologist, at the end of the XIXᵉ century. The serum was developed as part of his research into the bubonic plague, a devastating disease then raging in Asia and Europe.

In 1894, during his expedition to Hong Kong, Yersin isolated the bacterium responsible for plague, now known as Yersinia pestis. In collaboration with the Pasteur Institute, he then developed an anti-plague serum to neutralize the infection and reduce plague-related mortality.
