Our brands Baby Liniment

An essential element of the maternity kit, the liniment is making a comeback. To the point of being enthroned on almost all changing tables. But what is this product really for and what are its strengths?

What is oleo-limestone liniment?

The oleo-limestone liniment is a very simple mixture of lime water and olive oil. Pale yellow in color, this natural product has been used for generations. Traditionally used against skin burns, today it is mainly used to treat the seat of infants.

Without rinsing, the oleo-limestone liniment makes it possible to carry out the baby's toilet without water point. With its oily texture, it easily removes stool residues. And thanks to its alkaline pH (9), the liniment actively neutralizes the acidity of urine, irritating to sensitive baby skin. It is thus very useful in calming redness and preventing the dreaded diaper rash . It also leaves a thin protective layer on the skin thanks to the olive oil.

How to use baby liniment?

The oleo-limestone liniment is a two-phase mixture. Whatever the intended use, always start by shaking the bottle well in order to obtain a homogeneous liquid.

To perform a quick liniment wash:

  • Pour a little liniment on one or more cotton squares
  • Open your child's diaper
  • Clean urine and stool from the pubis to the buttocks to prevent UTIs.
  • Repeat the operation with as many cottons as necessary so that the baby's bottom is perfectly clean
  • No need to wipe off any traces of product: they will protect your child's skin from the next stool. All you have to do is put on a new diaper.

And here's how to use the liniment as a protective balm:

  • After cleaning the seat,
  • Gently dry baby's skin with a cotton swaddle or soft towel.
  • Pour a little liniment on a cotton pad (or directly in your palm).
  • Simply apply the product to baby's bottom before putting on a clean diaper.

Opt for an organic liniment , primarily to support organic agriculture, which produces the olive oil used. And it also means choosing a product that is more respectful of your child's fragile skin: in order to increase their performance or shelf life, many liniments contain many ingredients. No more than 3 ingredients are needed for a liniment: Lime Water, Olive Oil and Moisturizing Glycerin.
